~~ Renge's POV~~
"I promise I'll come back for you ZuZu!!!" My childish voice giggled."You promise?"
"Yea! I'll be back! Maybe I can even serve the royal family!" I cheered.
My mother approached us and took my hand. Zuko looked disappointed.
"Bye bye ZuZu!!!!!" I waved.
I shot straight up. I was breathing heavily. I scanned my surroundings.
"I'm still alone... Good." I whispered to myself.
I didn't like this forest. I mean, all the plants and animals were cool but it had an eerie feeling to it. Suddenly, I heard a twig snap. I jumped up and got into a fighting stance.
"Who is there and what do you want with me?" My voice was stern. Another crack, but it was closer this time. "I said, WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH ME!!!!!" I commanded.
I began to feel dizzy and sick. It was from the large gash across my stomach. I felt it re-open and begin to bleed, but I wouldn't let the pain show.
A girl my age stepped out of the labyrinth of trees. She had beautiful wavy jet black hair and turquoise eyes. I took in her appearance and noticed a small canteen-like thing.
"You're injured. Let me help you. I can bandage your wound." She said quietly and pulled out a roll of bandages from a small bag on her back. She looked a little scared.
I relaxed. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. It's just necessary for me to be on edge, especially with the Fire Nation being all crazy. Plus, I still don't trust the avatar."
She nodded and scurried over to me. She was fairly tall, making me feel shorter than I really was.
"Lay down." She instructed.
I sighed and did as I was told. I lifted up my shirt so she could care for my bleeding wound. It was deep and probably infected. I knew that much.
"It's really bad." She confirmed.
"I know. It's infected isn't it?" I sighed.
"Yep. It's infected, but I can clean it out easily. It will heal in no time but stay still? Don't freak out." She said in a soothing tone.
"I won't freak out. Just get it over with." I complained.
She nodded and removed the lid to her canteen. With the movements of her wrists, hands, and arms, the water moved itself out of the canteen and onto my wound. I instantly felt relief, for the gash no longer hurt or burned. I sat up after I felt the water gone. I looked at where my gash once was. Now, it was just a fading scar.
"Thanks, Water Girl." I said quietly. I grabbed my small bag and stood up. I adjusted my shirt and began to walk away. I heard Water Girl's quiet footsteps follow me.
"You know I can hear you right, Water Girl? I'm a bender too, but my senses are more advanced than most bender's senses. Go home. I only travel alone." Her footsteps still followed me. "By alone I meant by myself, so scram." I spat.
She did nothing but walk behind me. She didn't say anything until we reached an earth bending city. Benders scrambled everywhere, probably trying to protect themselves from an attack from the Fire Nation.
I sighed in remembrance. I missed my nation and how peaceful it used to be. I remembered Iroh and how kind he always was to me. How Iroh, Prince Zuko, and I would drink tea whenever I got to visit. That was when Zuko's mother was still alive....
"Are you ok? You look a little upset." Water Girl asked.
I turned to her and sighed. "Just peachy." I replied.
I heard multiple screams of fear and pain. I didn't think twice and just ran towards the screams.
"Go help get everyone to safety!" I commanded. She nodded and hustled around, helping heal people and bring them to safety.
When I arrived at my destination, I saw someone I knew too well. Way too well.
"Azula." I growled. The women and children coward in fear of Azula. Azula turned around and smirked.
"Dearest Ren! You're come back for your best friend!" She faked a sweet and innocent voice.
"Azula!" Ty Lee and Mai called out. They both stopped when the saw me.
I grinned. "Miss me Mai, Ty Lee?"
They were baffled by my appearance. I still had my long, slightly wavy, midnight black hair and lava red eyes, but I was taller and bustier. I was proud of being busty, considering I was only 17 1/2.
"R-R-Renge????" Mai stuttered out.
"You got it." I chuckled. I positioned myself in a fighting stance. A soft breeze blew by. I glared at all 3 of my past friends.
"Let's fight." Azula grinned wildly. Ty Lee, Mai, and Azula all assumed their fighting positions. I knew I was doomed to fail but it was enough to buy time for Water Girl to get everyone to safety.
Azula attacked first, Mai and Ty Lee soon following. I shot balls of fire, and multiple jets of fire at the three.
I was fending them off pretty well for about a good 15-20 minutes. Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee all had scrapes and burns from my fire. I was tired and panting.
"Everyone better be safe Water Girl." I thought.
"They are. You saved them by fighting. Thanks for buying time."
I was baffled that I could hear her, but I had to focus on my fight.
I sent a powerful jet of fire toward Mai, knocking her unconscious. I was about to strike Azula, when I felt a sharp pain in my arms. My arms had a spasm and my bending missed Azula completely. Azula grinned as I fell to the ground.
"Sorry! I'm super sorry Renge but I don't wanna die!" Ty Lee whispered in my ear when she pressure pointed my arms.
Azula prepared for a final strike as I prepared for the hit. The hit came quick and I was out.
"Sorry... I couldn't beat her.... Water Girl...." I said before being knocked unconscious by Azula's bending.

I had just barely regained consciousness when I heard voices. Two male voices, and three female voices, including Water Girl's voice. I slowly opened my eyes, and let them adjust to the light. A boy, my age, had his face right in mine.
I yelped and attempted to jump up. I did jump up, but I felt so dizzy, I fell. Water Girl looked over and ran towards me. The boy that was in my face stuck his hand out to me, Water Girl did the same thing. I took Water Girl's hand.
"Please. You must rest. You're injured badly." Water Girl insisted.
She tried to lead me to the bed, but I refused to move.
I looked around, and found two more females and one more guy. One girl looked like another water bender and the other girl looked blind and to be an earth bender. The other boy looked to be human, based on the little pouch thingy on his back. The boy who was in my face smiled to me.
"Hi! I'm Aang. This is Katara, Sokka, and Toph!" He said pointing to each person as he said their names. They smiled and waved to me.
"I'm Renge...." I said cautiously.
Aang smiled again.
Katara looked confused. "Zatora said you're a fire bender. If so, why does your name mean Flowing River?"
"Because it does and that's what my mom named me."
I wanted to leave. Aang grinned brightly.
"Just who are you Aang?"
"I'm the Avatar." He smiled.
My whole world went black.
