Maggie Jane Stewart had been a good girl all her life, always following the rules, doing all her homework, never going out unless her mum was going, and she just went along with whatever her teachers and mum said, even though she hated doing so.
Six months before her 10th birthday her dad walked out on them without giving Maggie a good reason. All he said was "I have to go, don't hate me when you're older, please." Then he walked out the door with his suitcase.
After that, Maggie was so busy with focusing on her school work and keeping her life on track, that when her mom got a new job in Sydney, Australia she had to leave all her hard work behind and do it all over again in a new country. But after all, new country, new start, right? Let's hope so.
