the two got back to vinnie's around late lunch. the morning they had spent together left ashanti and vinnie better aquatinted and closer to each other.

"i left this in the car on accident when we got to the gardens.." vinnie started after he parked in their garage. he turned around, grabbing something from under ashanti's seat.

"this is for you."

he handed her a black velvet rectangular box. "like a day or two after i got back, i was at the mall with troy... and i was thinking about you."

"i saw it when we were checking out at h&m and thought, 'damn even the universe knows she's on my mind'." he laughed, "and so, i got it."

ashanti's smile grew as she grabbed the box from his hands. "you got me something v?"

"i just knew i wanted to see the look on your face when you opened it."

ashanti gently opened the box, revealing a gold necklace with the letter 'a' on it. vinnie tugged at his neck, revealing his own silver chain with the letter 'v' on it.

"i know they're basic but i didn't wanna go too overboard. especially with this being our first date... i get it if you think it's weird. if you don't like it, i can take it ba-"

"vinnie. breathe."

ashanti cupped his face with her hands, making the blond stop his nervous ramble and look into her eyes.

"it's beautiful, thank you. no one has ever gotten me get me anything like this before."

vinnie made a mental note of the expression ashanti had on their face. it was awe, mixed in with a little bit of lovestruck and a whole lot of gratitude.

"can you help me put it on?"

"of course i will 'ti."

he grabbed the necklace from its case. unclasping the hook, his hands reached over ashanti's head as she held up the end of her locs.

his warm hands felt like electricity dancing on the back of her neck as he clasped the necklace back together.

"all done."

she let go of her hair before turning back around. she grabbed onto the letter, admiring it in the sun-visor mirror.

"thank you really vin, it's so pretty."

"i think you make the necklace pretty."

ashanti smiled as a light blush crept up on her face, "that's enough from you.."

vinnie laughed, "it's just the truth. you ready to head inside? we can chill and watch a movie?"

"yeah, we can go inside."

"you can put your stuff upstairs in the guest room. i think xan and troy are already here so xan's stuff might already be in there." vinnie explained as he closed the door to the house.

"it'll be the second door on your left."

"daaamn... this place is very nice."

vinnie nodded, laughing softly, "i've definitely had to get used to it..."

"no kidding. i'm gonna go change upstairs then."

"i'll just be in my room, so just knock and you can come in. it's the door right across."
