Jay took care of Victoria for the evening, while Andrea called and then left out to hang with Paula. When she came back, she was hungover and her car was nowhere to be found. He sighed before picking her up, carrying her to bed, and leaving water by the table for her. Jay rolled his eyes and thought to himself, "I'll let this slide since she hasn't gotten this shitfaced in months. He went into his daughter's room, played house with her, helped her make drawings, and finish her homework. After that, they cooked dinner together and sat and ate while watching her favorite movie and after that, they made hot fudge sundaes for dessert.
Jay had no problem picking up the slack for Andrea, in fact, it's rare that he would get to do this with Victoria because she always beat him to it. As the evening turned into night, Jay got Victoria cleaned up, in bed, and fast asleep by 9 pm before heading to check on his sleeping caveman wife. He walked into the room, propped her head up, and put the fan on her before sitting over in the recliner in the opposite corner and reading a book under the dim light of his reading lamp. He continued reading until he was getting sleepy, but after he got up, he found Andrea sprawled out all over the bed and he knew he wasn't sleeping there tonight. He sat back down in his recliner, pulled the blankets over him, set an alarm on his phone, and drifted off to sleep.
When he awoke, it was 7:28, just two minutes before his alarm was set to go off. He chuckled a bit before canceling it and quietly getting up. He saw his wife spread all across the bed with the fan still on so despite her wishes, he was going to let her rest while he stayed home and handled today's work. After closing the bedroom door, he walked down the hall to Victoria's room, and gently woke his sleeping princess. After getting her up, washed, and fed, he gave her a kiss and said "I love you, princess, see you later", as she got into Julie's car and was off to school. Jay loved being a Mendoza, they weren't a perfect family but they always were there for each other.
Julie had volunteered to take her to school when she called yesterday and Jay told her she had gone to go meet Paula...it was almost as if she knew her daughter would come home shitfaced. Jay walked back upstairs into their bedroom, turned on the lamp, and walked over to his sleeping beauty. He put his hand on her forehead and saw that she had finally cooled down and turned off the fan. The bed was soaked in sweat, so he picked his beloved up and carried her to the spare bedroom down the hall and tucked her back in.
He stood over her in awe; after all these years she was still as beautiful and energetic as that woman who said yes to him all those years ago. Sure she changed, but it was always for the better but even if that wasn't the case, he still would've loved her and worked hard to help her grow. He just couldn't believe that this one girl could fly into his dark gloomy life and fill it with color, cheerfulness, and meaning. None of this would've ever happened without him...he healed her and she healed him.
She was already the strong one, and when she came into his life, she shared her strength until he became strong too. He leaned over and kissed her cheek before turning off the light and closing the door. If he told himself 8 years ago that he'd marry Andrea and build a wonderful life and family together, he wouldn't have believed himself; he's still surprised about it and even 7 years later, that thrill still hasn't subsided. Jay walked back into their bedroom, took the sheets off and down to the basement, and started the laundry before coming back upstairs to grab some coffee and a pop tart before heading to his office.
Thirty minutes into his work, he was startled by a door slamming opening and intense vomiting that almost sounded as if someone was drowning. He quickly got up and followed the sound and find his wife slumped over the toilet, breathing heavily and her face all red. He quickly kneeled down and held her hair back as she continued to puke. It was then that Jay knew what had happened; Andrea had drunk whiskey again. Andrea's alcohol tolerance had improved over the years, but one thing she couldn't dare touch was whiskey because when she did it ended in her being sick to her stomach.
Jay sighed and thought to himself" Looks like I'm gonna have to have a talk with Paula later". His thoughts were interrupted by Andrea falling over on her back with puke all over her clothes. He acted quickly and pulled off all her clothes before placing her on the shower bench in the tub. Andrea blushed hard and said in a weak tone "W-wait you don't have to" and he said, "We're married, there's nothing weird about it...you're sick and wreak of alcohol and vomit so I'm helping you wash".
He grinned and said "Don't tell me this one of those weird fantasies where I-" and before Jay could finish that sentence, a scalding hot rag hit him in the face. She said, "Don't you go there, I only had that dream once, now get out". He chuckled and said "Okay, if you need me, I'm here before closing the door and running away before he gave in to his temptation. Andrea's form flashed in his mind as he put new sheets on their bed before finally returning to his office to work. He joked about the fantasy but secretly at this moment he wanted to carry it out while he had the chance but he knew she'd never let him live it down so he threw himself vigorously into his work, which allowed the feelings of lust to subside.
