Chapter 6: Futures Battle

Victoria ran through the empty desolate streets of her once beautiful hometown. Today was her 18th birthday and it didn't start off as ideal either...instead, she got to watch her parents battle to save her and die right in front of her. She continued to run until she reached what remained of her grandmother's once-beautiful home and rushed inside quickly. Carlos hugged her tight and said "Did you get it? and she smiled and pulled out an old book that her parents had hidden to help her understand her powers. Carlos opened it up and told his fiancée to go get some rest but unfortunately, she would get very little sleep knowing her entire family was dead.

[flashback to earlier that morning]
The sun shined brightly as Victoria woke up and headed downstairs, only to be startled by her goofy and sometimes over-the-top parents. They screamed "happy birthday" in unison as she fell flat on her butt. She got up and hugged her parents and walked into the kitchen to see what spectacular thing they had planned for her this year. Despite being 18 and having her ups and downs with them, Victoria was still very close to her parents and they still often did things as a family.

After walking into the kitchen, her jaw dropped to find nothing there but she did hear a snap which prompted her to turn around and face her mother. Andrea smiled and said, "Surprise, you can use your powers anytime you want now, I'm officially removing the bond but remember be responsible...if anyone catches you it'll cause serious issues". Victoria smiled and said "I got this Mom" and Andrea said," Good, now check out front I think you'll like your present". Victoria smiled and ran out front to find a beautiful baby blue sedan with a bow on top. 

She came back in and hugged her mother and father but it didn't last for long as the sky turned red and the ground shook. There was a white flash of light that blinded the family but when it subsided, it revealed several Astro gods that were now in their living room. Ariel spoke first and said "My children, Agathor has returned" and Jay looked at her and said, "That's bullshit, we killed that bastard". Maldor spoke up and said, "No you killed his clone...before he came back to the arena he used Victoria's powers to split himself and travel here".

Andrea looked at him and said, "How did this just happen when I just released her bond and how did we not know this until now". Maya said "Every little thing we do alters time and allows for multiple possibilities and when you disabled her bond, it set in motion an opportunity for Agathor and he took it. We don't know if it was destiny or not because time is always in flux which means its shape isn't definite and it can swing in anyone's favor".

 Maldor said "Even though he hasn't gotten Victoria this moment, he will get her in the future when something makes her more susceptible to his influence...it's weird but our best bet right now is to keep Victoria as far from him as possible and defeat him again". Andrea said "why didn't he come after me or jay when his children fought us and you guys became infected?". Ariel said, "our powers are not as powerful as what's contained in just one of your bodies...it would take all of us to even be able to combat you two... but like I said Victoria's bond maturing has set something in motion, we saw it but we cannot stop it there, so we must try to stop it here".

Jay sighed and said "With all due respect can you at least tell us what makes Victoria vulnerable?" and Maya shook her head before saying "That's the confusing part, we don't have the information because he or something he created is ripping chunks of the timestream away and already, the past is gone yet this future is here and that is against the laws of physics but it makes sense that he needs the first battle to take place with you guys because if it doesn't he can't time travel and set this in motion". 

Andrea sighed and said, "Enough talk, you guys get Victoria to safety, and me and Jay will have to buy you guys some time". Ariel smiled and said, "No my children, we'll send her off with Carlos and we'll all fight him together...it'd give us a better chance or rather buy Victoria time to figure this mess out". Maldor smiled and said," Victoria is different, all her powers didn't manifest all those years ago, instead they manifested now after she matured".

Maya sighed and said "We were gonna have this discussion after her birthday, but I'll just say it now...Victoria possesses all of you and Jay's powers, from the moment she was born, she was destined to be more powerful than anything we've seen before". Andrea looked at her daughter and said "Honey if me and your father fail...I don't care how far back you gotta go but I want you to find another version of us okay sweetie?" Victoria nodded and Andrea smiled and said, "Good girl, now we'll see you soon, be safe". 

Andrea snapped her fingers and sent Victoria to a remote forest outside the city where Carlos already was. Together the two stood and watched the battle play out and during the beginning, it seemed as if they were winning until he unleashed a powerful energy burst that disintegrated Jay and the other gods. Andrea however, came crashing down into the pavement and Victoria immediately teleported over to her against her wishes. Agathor laughed and said, "Does that piss you off, how about this?". 

He snapped his fingers and teleported, the entire Mendoza family including her aunt and Paula, and grinned before vaporizing them in front of her. Their screams for help haunted her to the point where she screamed and charged at him. She was engulfed in a flash of light and reappeared in the jungle of South Africa in a treehouse with Carlos and Andrea's dead bodies".
