Tae Tae: are you free tomorrow?
Nini: Hmm, I guess so. What's going on?
Tae Tae: Well... there's this restaurant opening tomorrow. It's my friend's new place, and he invited me to the opening ceremony. The thing is, I really don’t want to go alone. I tried asking hyung, but they're all set on staying in bed during our break.
You know how they are...Nini: Ahh, I see. Honestly, sounds fun! But you know how our manager is lately... they've been pretty strict about us not going out too much. I'll have to think of a convincing excuse.
Let me check in with him and see what I can come up with.
Tae Tae: Really? That would be awesome! I didn't want to drag you into it, but it’d be nice to have someone there with me.
Nini: Don’t worry about it. I’ll figure something out.Besides, a fancy new restaurant sounds like the perfect excuse to get out for a bit. I’ll let you know by the end of the day, okay?
Tae Tae: Thanks Jennie, You’re the best.
Nini: Haha, you owe me one for this.
Tae Tae: Deal! Bye for now.
Nini: Bye
As Taehyung puts his phone down after confirming the plans with Jennie, he leans back on his couch, staring at the ceiling, his heart pounding a little faster than usual. His fingers tap restlessly on the armrest, a nervous energy bubbling inside him.
He had just asked Jennie to go with him to the restaurant opening, but that wasn’t the whole truth. Sure, his friend’s opening ceremony was happening, but it wasn’t just about that. He had something else in mind, something that had been gnawing at him for a while now.
"What am I doing?" he muttered to himself, shaking his head. He’d been thinking about confessing his feelings to Jennie for months, but every time he got close, he’d chicken out. He’d always managed to convince himself it wasn’t the right time or that she didn’t see him that way.
But now... now he had her all to himself for the evening. No cameras, no other members around, no distractions. It was the perfect moment—or at least, he hoped it would be.
He stood up and paced around his living room, running his hands through his hair as he tried to figure out what to say.
"Do I just... come right out with it? Or do I wait for the right moment?" he wondered aloud, the nervousness building in his chest.
His mind flashed back to all the moments they’d spent together—her laugh, the way she always made him feel at ease, even during the most chaotic times. There was something about her that made him feel grounded, like she understood him in a way no one else did.
"You can do this, " he muttered under his breath, taking a deep breath to steady himself. "It's just Jennie. You've got this."
But deep down, he knew it wasn’t just Jennie. She meant more to him than anyone else, and that’s what made this so much harder. He didn’t want to risk messing things up between them. What if she didn’t feel the same way? What if she thought of him as just a close friend and nothing more?
His phone buzzed, snapping him out of his thoughts. It was a message from Jennie.
Nini: Tae, guess what?*
Tae Tae: You managed to escape the manager's iron grip?
Nini: Haha, close. I had to sweet-talk him a bit, but I convinced him to let me go!, I used the "it's for networking" card.Tae Tae: you're a genius. I honestly didn’t think you’d pull it off. So you're coming
Nini: Yep, I’m coming. But remember our deal. You owe me big time for this.
Tae Tae: Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten. I’ll make sure it’s worth your while.
