“No please Jack don’t do this you know you’re the only one i have please” Carina pleaded as the only person who she genuinely cared about tries to take her arms off him. 

“You know I will always care about you but it’s not fair Carina” he said “This is not fair especially for you” he continued trying to hold back his tears as he still cared for her. 

They were friends first even before they were lovers. It is true that he still has love for her but he was not in love with her anymore. Jack had been thinking about ending things for a long time now but it was very hard because he knew the girl didn't have anyone else besides him. No friends at least any real ones or any family because most of the time they were away for their fancy business trips. 

“I’m so sorry Carina but this is the right thing to do” he said finally able to free himself from Carina’s grip. Jack held her hands in between them kissing it before looking up to meet the girl’s pleading eyes. “I just can’t do this anymore. I don’t want to continue keeping you in this relationship knowing that you’re the only one who is willing to work it out” still crying Carina shook her head “Please don’t say that I love you so much. We can make this work. I promise I’ll fight harder for you” this breaking him as much as it was breaking her specially hearing those words. He knows Carina deserved better than what he is giving her. One of the reasons why he decides to let her go is for her to find some else, someone that would treat her better. It would be extremely selfish of him to keep her from getting that. 

“Please stay” Carina pleaded 

“I’m sorry Carina but you have to let me go now” he said finally breaking down in tears. He gave her one last kiss on her forehead before turning towards the door leaving the girl alone in that cold dark room of hers. Crying in defeat Carina threw things around her room before kneeling down feeling her whole body go weak. 

That night she did nothing but cry her eyes out as she felt more alone than she already did. There was no other person she could talk to as she usually closed herself to everyone around her and mask her loneliness with her cold appearance. There was no other person that was ever able to get past the wall she built up other than him and it totally broke her that he too had left her alone.

Present day

“Can you explain to me again why I can’t have that whole room to myself?” Carina said irritated at the woman in front of her “I can pay you double or triple the price” she repeated for the nth time

“Ma’am you see it’s not about the money” the lady maybe in her early 40’s said as calmly as possible as she was also getting irritated at the attitude the other girl was showing her “We have a lot of new students coming and moving here as well not just you”

“But we have this settled already even before the semester started” Carina explained. Most of the time Carina didn’t like the company of others. That is why she settled with having a whole room to herself beforehand and initially they agreed to it but now, here she is being told that there had been changes and that was not possible anymore because they were lacking at space for other students.

“I’m sorry ma’am but things change around here” the women at the other side of the desk said “I sincerely apologize but there is nothing that i can do to help you” with that the older women dismissed Carina by looking at the person behind her who pushed her aside
