~Summer~

I opened the door to my parents room.

My mother looked up from the needlepoint she was working on.

"Mom," I sobbed.

She set down her fabric, "What's wrong baby?"

I ran, knelt in front of her, and put my head on her lap. I sobbed so hard I couldn't form words. My mother smoothed my hair while holding me tight.

"What happened?" My father's voice asked, ridden with worry.

"This is something momma needs to handle," my mother replied. Glorfindel closed the door behind him. Mom helped me to my feet and led me over to the bed. I sat down with her across from me.

"Now," she held my cold hands. "Why don't you tell me what has you upset?"

I wiped away the tears from my cheeks with the back of my hand, "He loves me."

"Tegalad?"

"No," I say quickly. "Elrohir."

"Oh," my mother said. "And I'm guessing it was unexpected?"

"Yes, no. I knew he liked me but I thought just as friends until one day. We nearly kissed. And then it happened again."

"Well, when I was your age I kissed a few boys."

"No this is different. I want him to kiss me," I blushed.

My mother smiled, "Then I think you have your answer."

"But I told Tegalad I'd go to the summer solstice feast with him and now Elrohir is going to think I'm in love with him!" I started to panic.

"Tell Tegalad you changed your mind. If he does care about you he'll understand," mother said. "Now, about Elrohir. I wanna here all about those almost kisses."

I giggled, "Okay."

After my talk with my mother I rushed to find Elrohir. I checked the library, the kitchen, and his chamber. His parents were in the garden when I walked through.

"Summer? Are you alright?" Celebrian stood. "You look frantic."

"I can't find Elrohir!" I said.

"I think he took Raven out for a run," Elrond said from where he sat on the blanket.

"Thank you!" I called over my shoulder as I ran.

Raven's stall was empty when I ran Into the stable. I knew where he had gone. I grabbed a bridle from the large tack room.

"We've got to find him," I said to flicka as I heaved myself onto her back.

It began to pour rain as I rode through the forest. Thunder rumbled through the dark clouds above. Flicka slammed her hooves into the mud and skittered to the side.

"It's alright," I rubbed her neck. "We've just got to find him and then we can go home. Promise."

Flicka took one step forward and then broke into a swift run. She dodged trees as I clung to her.

My horse and I walked into the clearing by the waterfall.

There he was. Staring at the gray water with the rain soaking him. His black hair was slicked in a black curtain, clinging to his frame. Elrohir's shirt was drenched.
