Entry 1- February 15; 12:36pm

I am Dr. Harris. Age 21. I finally got the job at Mental Illness Institution of Chicago in Illinois and I am now just waiting on a patient to be assigned to. I hope they won't give me anyone too difficult to work with.

Dr. Harris puts down her recorder and looks at the portfolios on her desk. "I should start looking through these before tomorrow." Each portfolio had the information to a patient at the asylum. Dr. Harris opens the first portfolio, revealing the information of a female patient named Emily. Reasons why she was put in the institution was listed below her name.

Thirty minutes later, after going through a dozen more portfolios, Dr. Harris gets up from her desk. "I think it's time to find something to eat," she thinks. She finally decides to order pizza. While waiting, she thinks further about which patient she could possibly be assigned to. Deciding that any patient would be a good candidate for her, she hears the doorbell ring, signalling that the pizza had arrived. Going to the door to pay for her food, Dr. Harris pulls her blonde bob up into a ponytail.
"That'll be 9.58."
She hands the delivery guy the exact amount, takes her pizza, and closes the door, locking it securely.

After finishing her personal pizza, Dr. Harris starts to do a little cleaning around the house. First, she arranges her desk neatly, making sure no portfolios get lost. Then, she makes her bed and makes sure her bedroom is in order. On her way to the kitchen, the phone rings. Seeing that it was the institute's number, she answers.
"Hello, is this Dr. Harris?" Says the person on the other line.
"Yes, this is she. May I ask who might this be?"
"This is Dr. Adims, the one who will assign you to a patient and I will be guiding you through the basics"
"Ah, Dr. Adims, Hello!" Dr. Harris says cheerfully, "What would you like to address with me?"
"I was just calling to ask if you had looked through some portfolios yet." Dr. Harris laughed, "Oh yes, I have. There are some interesting people there"
"Yes, yes. Interesting indeed," Dr. Adims sighed.

Dr. Harris finally said her goodbyes to Dr. Adims after talking for about an hour about the institution. She notices that it's almost 4:30. "What to do now," she says out loud. Walking toward the couch, her cat, Douglas, walks into the room and jumps onto the couch. Dr. Harris also sits down and turns on the TV. Flipping through channels and petting Douglas, she finds that there really isn't anything to watch.

On the brink of falling asleep, the door bell rings.
"Who could that be at this hour?" She thinks. Walking over to the door, she looks through the peep hole and instantly grimaces.
"Why are you here?" She yells from her side of the door. "Just open the door Christi, I just wanna talk." Dr. Harris unlocks and opens the door slightly.
"There isn't anything to talk about Dennis. You hurt me and I left you, end of discussion," she deadpans.
"Please just open the door..." Dennis begs. After a minute of thinking, she finally lets Dennis in.
"What do you want to talk about," she says, crossing her arms across her chest.
"I came to ask for a second chance," Dennis confesses.
"We both know you've had one too many chances," she snaps,"You don't need anymore chances. You messed up all the chances I gave you, so what makes you think you won't mess up this one?"
"Christi, baby, I realized my mistakes and I love you so much and I wouldn't hurt you again."
"That excuse sounds familiar," Dr. Harris thinks, remembering the previous times he had said something similar to her.
"Please Christi..."
"My answer is no. Please do not press the situation any further because you're wasting your time," she points towards the door, "It's time for you to leave." "Look Christi-"
"I said leave," with that she pushes Dennis out the door and closes it, making sure it is locked. Sighing and realizing that took thirty minutes of her life she probably won't get back, Dr. Harris walks back over to the couch, where Douglas was waiting for her return.
"That was exhausting... I can't believe he came back after all that he has done to me," she says to Douglas, petting his black fur. "I can't believe I'm talking to a cat," she laughs, shaking her head. Douglas meows in response as if he understands what she was saying.

As the clock hits 10:30, Dr. Harris realizes it is time for bed and gets up to take a shower. As she is stepping into the steaming shower, she thinks about the eventful day she has had and about what may happen tomorrow during her first day of work.
"Today has been pretty exhausting," she states aloud towards no one, while washing her body. It takes her five minutes to finish cleansing her body. She steps out of the shower, dries her body, and wraps the towel around herself. Looking in the mirror above the sink, she sees that she is noticeably tired, so she washes her face, rinsing off any makeup she had on for the day. Finally, she comes out of the warm bathroom, enters her room, and puts on her panties and an oversized t-shirt that used to belong to Dennis. Turning off the lights, Dr. Harris quickly climbs into bed and says good night to Douglas, who had walked into her room while she showered. Douglas meowed back and Dr. Harris smiled contently, closed her eyes, and thought about what the next day would be like as she drifted into her slumber.
