Newbie

"Good afternoon ma'am, you must be the new transfer from UConn correct?" A nice lady asks as I enter The university of Iowa. It's weird to walk into a school that's not Uconn, ugh I miss that place already.
"Yes, that's me" I reply
"Well it's nice to meet you Ms..-" , she says while looking at her phone , "ah! Ms. f/n l/n " I nod and smile slightly, she then continues to talk as I'm admiring the campus.
"Well, shall we?" She blurts out.
"Oh uh, yeah" I say hesitantly, what was she even talking about? She then starts to walk and I follow behind her.
"Just to let you know, I'm Mrs. Samantha but I don't mind you calling me Sam " I nodded and we continued to walk, it seemed we were going to my dorm. I honestly didn't know because I wasn't listening to a word she said. Sooner or later we stopped at a dorm door. Room 109, sweet.
"And here it is, this is your dorm"she explains then hands me the key. She tells me to settle in and then head back down to meet the team. I open the door and start to walk in while giving her a thumbs up. As I shut the door I look around to see if I have a dormmate. Looks like I don't, thank the lord. I place my stuff on my bed then sit down while looking down at my phone. Someone was calling me ..of course, my mom.

-on call-

"y/n sweetie how are you, did you get your dorm? Are the people nice? Do you like it?-"
"Ma calm down calm down yes I got my dorm, yes the people are nice, and yes I like it. You're acting like I'm a freshmen all over again"
"Ok ok I was just checking up on my daughter." As she kept going on and on about random things I lose track of time .
"Oh shit mom I gotta go I forgot I have to be somewhere ttyl bye love youuu" I quickly hang up then rush down stairs. I can't believe I lost track of time. As I make my way down stairs I see Sam waiting for me.

"Hurry now Ms. l/n you may be a little late" Sam explains.I quickly follow her although I have no idea where she was going. As we make our way to our destination my eyes widen..
"Woah, this is the basketball court?" I ask Sam as we walk in.
"Yes indeed it is, pretty neat right?" She replies as I quickly nod.
"Coach Bluder come and meet your transfer!" Sam shouts trying to get coach Bluders attention. She stops talking to the team and heads over to me and Sam.
"Well hello y/n, I'm very excited to have you on the team. If you don't know already I'm coach Bluder and over there in coach Jensen" she says while shaking my hand.
"Why don't you come over and meet the team" I agree the I follow her while waving goodbye to Sam. As we walk over to the team I begin to turn my music down and take one of my AirPods out. Everyone was staring at me as we were walking towards them.
"Ladies attention please! Please welcome our new transfer y/n"
"Hello everyone it's nice to meet you all" I say nervously while waving.
"Omg you are like so pretty!" A blonde girl blurts out.
"Kate you're so creepy..." another girl says while shoving her. Kate? I feel like I've heard that beam before.
"You came from UConn, am I correct?" Kate asks, I nod my head.
"Ohhhh wait duhh I remember you, you were that starting freshmen!"
"Ok ok that's enough Kate. Anyways I'm Gabbie and this talk box is Kate" explains Gabbie.
"I'm Monika but you can call me Moni"
"I'm Sydney"
"I'm McKenna" As the rest of the team announces their names I can't help but notice someone is missing. I remember Paige was talking about her on call yesterday. What was her name again? Something with a C..-
"Sorry y/n one of us is missing. Her name is Caitlin she wasn't able to make it today" Ah, her name was Caitlin. Her and Paige are like best friends or something. I swear Paige stays talking about her, but I low key don't care.

-later-

After our little team meeting I say goodbye to everyone and leave with Moni. The only reason why I'm leaving with her is because it turns out that her dorm is right next to mine, 110. As we are walking up the stairs Moni tells me that Caitlin is her dormmate.
"Oh really, that's kinda cool. I don't even have a dormmate" I tell her.
"Really? That must be so boring" she replies while giggling.
"Not for me, I like a dorm to myself"
"You'll figure it out how boring it really is sooner or later" she says with a smile. Then, we finally make it to our dorms.
"Well I guess I'll see you tomorrow y/n. Goodnight."
"Goodnight Moni" I reply with a smile while walking into my dorm.

-later at night-

It was 11:30 and I just now realized that I left my phone charger in my car. Shit, now I have to go and get it.. ughh. I grab my car keys and dorm key and head out. As I'm walking down the hall while looking down at my phone someone bumps into me.
"Excuse you" I say seriously. I look up to see who it was and it was a very pretty girl with straight dark brown hair. She glares at me and walks away.
"Gosh what a bitch..no sorry or anything"
I get my phone charger from my car and then head back to my dorm quickly. I should probably get to bed because classes do start tomorrow and I have my first official practice at Iowa.
