It was a peaceful day in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2009. However, that peace wouldn't last for long.

Ross Federman, who was wearing a gray Michigan t-shirt, was walking down the street, towards Andrew Horowitz's house. The gray shirt matched his salt-&-pepper hair color.

Ross was about to slay a man.

Ross was the gray-tie-wearing drummer of the indie band Tally Hall, while Andrew, sporting a green tie, was the keyboardist of that band. Just because they worked together, didn't mean Ross wouldn't attempt to murder him.

As he approached the house, he took a deep breath & mentally prepared himself, gray tie in hand. He rang the doorbell, & Andrew dashed in to open it. He was wearing a plain white shirt, and his glasses were foggy.

"Oh hey Ross—"

Ross whipped his tie out & started choking Andrew with it. Andrew gasped & wheezed & went blue in the face.

"Oh, wait," Ross said, "You need a dying wish." He loosened up his hold (or rather the tie's hold) on Andrew's neck. "& don't make it a paradox!" Andrew took a deep breath, grateful for air.

"WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU STRANGLE ME?"

Ross tightened his hold a little, his gaze boring into Andrew's now fearful eyes. "It's simple, really. I want your tie." He sounded surprisingly menacing.

"Oh, I didn't even really want to have a green tie, anyways!" Andrew laughed.

Ross was excited about getting Andrew's tie, & relieved he didn't have to murder his friend. "Really? You wanna take the gray tie, then?" He took the tie away from Andrew's neck & held it out.

"Nah man, I want Zubin's tie. I like blue. But I can take it for now. Here, have my tie." He pulled it out of his pocket.

Ross gazed upon the glorious green tie. It was shiny, neat, & beautiful. He gently cradled it gently in his hands, like a baby, as he gave Andrew the gray tie, which was in a worse condition.

"Why is this so beat-up?" Andrew asked.

"Sound waves. Happens as a drummer."

"Oh."

They each put the ties on.

Just then, Joe Hawley stopped by. "Oh hey guys, I was just—why are you wearing ties on t-shirts?"

They both sheepishly gazed down at themselves, realizing that they were indeed wearing ties on t-shirts.

Joe continued talking. "Wait, did you guys switch ties? What's up with that?"

"Nothing," Ross replied a bit too fast.

Joe looked at him, suspicious, but didn't say anything. He walked off.

Once he was out of sight, the two breathed a deep sigh of relief.

"Hey Andrew," Ross whispered, "Come to my place tomorrow noon."

"Sure. But next time, maybe we should bring some collared shirts. For ties."
