"Alright, Miyoung. See you this weekend." Jaehyun said, still smiling.
"I'll pay for your food, buy whatever you want. This is my way of apologizing!" I said.
Jaehyun nodded and left. As long as I'm friends with you, Jaehyun, I'm fine.
"Miyoung! What are you doing out there?" my mom suddenly yelled out.
"I'm coming, mom!" I went in and threw my flipflops off.
"What were they selling?" my mom asked. I was a bit confused, my mom probably heard that on my tone when I said:
"Selling?"
"Yes! You said there was a salesperson at the door!"
"Oh... they were selling... fried chicken!"
"That's unusual, salespeople usually sell pastries or clothes. Well, you should've bought some fried chicken!"
"Mom, you don't even buy stuff from salespeople!"
"Yah, I'm tired of always cooking for 4 people! Go out and buy fried chicken!"
I sighed, we didn't even have enough money to pay the rent or to buy groceries and mom wants me to buy fried chicken! Are you serious? If I had asked her for money for food, she would've killed me! How am I even supposed to pay for Jaehyun's food this weekend?
I put on my shoes and walked out of the house. I needed fresh air, too. I guess it was good mom sent me out to buy fried chicken. I was so tired of her complaining. Always on my back for some reason!
I went to the place that sold the cheapest fried chicken in Seoul. After paying for Jaehyun's food this weekend, I probably won't be able to afford fried chicken here anymore!
Suddenly, I got a phone call. I picked my phone up to see who it was, and of course it was my mom! Who else would phone an uninteresting person like me? I answered:
"Yes?"
"Buy 10 fried chickens and 5 slices of cream cheese garlic bread! I told Taejin to send you some money. Make sure to directly come home after you've gotten the food! Okay?"
"Yes, mom."
She hung up the phone and I entered the restaurant.
"Well, look who it is! It's our lovely customer, Lee Miyoung. You haven't been here for a while, what brings you here?" The shop owner, Mrs. Kim greeted me.
"Good evening, Mrs. Kim! How have you been?"
"I feel better now that you're here! Tell me, what'd you like to eat, dear?"
Mrs. Kim was always so nice. She was like my second mother. I've had come here often during elementary and middle school years.
"10 fried chickens and 5 slices of cream cheese garlic bread!"
"Wow, you're hungry this evening! Make sure you eat well; I'll give you a 30% discount on the food. I'll give you 2 free chocolate sundaes, one for Taejin, and of course, one for you!"
"Wow, Mrs. Kim! You really don't have to do this!"
"Anything for my favourite customer!"
I paid for the food and said farewell to Mrs. Kim, then left the store with the bag of food. Aish, I'm so grateful for this shop! I'll eat here more often, maybe I should bring Jaehyun here one day!
"Miyoung?" I stopped my steps and looked up to see, Jihoon.
"Ah, good evening!" I greeted Jihoon with an awkward smile.
"Good evening, I was on my way to the fried chicken place. I'm assuming you just came from there, looking at your bag."
I nodded.
"Well, I didn't get your number, so this question was a bit hard to ask over the phone."
I looked at Jihoon, looking like a question mark.
"Do you want to eat bulgogi with me this weekend? I know a great place, and we should get to know each other more."
Oh no! This weekend? I was going to eat tofu with Jaehyun. I looked down and started thinking intensely. What do I do? What do I say?
I looked back up at Jihoon; he was waiting for an answer.
- Jihoon's POV -
Aish, why isn't she saying anything? Was it too early to ask her about eating out together? I really thought she had the same feelings for me too. Was it because of Jaehyun?
Why was I even here wasting my time? It was so obvious that she liked Jaehyun. He was perfect.
"Miyoung? Jihoon?" I heard a deep male voice say.
I looked behind Miyoung, only to see, Jaehyun.
"Jaehyun!" Miyoung exclaimed.
"What are you doing out this late?" Jaehyun asked, looking at Miyoung.
Miyoung looked nervously at me, and then back at Jaehyun.
"Hello Jaehyun. I could ask you the same thing." I said, with a cold tone.
"You don't have to worry about me, Jihoon."
I gave Jaehyun a look of disdain, then I looked back at Miyoung with a smile, and asked, once again:
"What do you say, Miyoung? Do you want to eat bulgogi this weekend?"
Miyoung looked at me with a look of shock, and then she looked at Jaehyun, who had a look of confusion.
"Weren't we supposed to eat tofu this weekend?" he asked.
