"Yes, come over at 3 o'clock to drop him off. thanks," I hang up the phone.

I have been planning this for weeks. Contacting person after person just trying to pull this off.

Kayden has finally bought his own house, and this Friday, he's moving in. And I have a moving in present for him.

The house he bought has five acres of pasture, along with a big barn. Now that he has a well paying job, he is going to be able to afford a horse.

Him and I are planning to go to a horse auction this Monday... or so he thinks.

--------

"Oh, he looks just amazing!" I say as an old man leads the beautiful dapple gray Quarter horse stallion out.

"Sign here please," he hands me a form, which has a blank line at the bottom. I glance the paper up and down before signing my name on the line.

I take the horse and lead him back to our barn, putting him in an empty stall.

"Kayden is going to be so happy," I rub his ears and kiss his nose before waking over to Pepper's stall.

I grin when I see her big belly.

"I just can't believe you're going to be a mother, Pepper! you get to have your very own foal," I tell her, patting her neck.

She nickers and goes back to eating her hay.

It's been only four months since the 'accident' and when we got home I found out that Peppermint was already nearly eight months pregnant. Her due date is expected to be sometime next week, although it could be earlier or later.

I exit the barn, walking on the mushy ground, still wet from melted snow and recent rain.

I can't wait for this Saturday, this Saturday is April the 1st. and April the 1st is my birthday!

---------

"No peeking," I drag Kayden down the driveway and up to his new house. We walk straight through it, exiting out the back door.

"Where are you taking me?" He asks suspiciously, still keeping his eyes closed.

"You'll see," I guide him to the barn, taking him inside.

"Okay, you can look now." I step back, wanting to see his expression.

His face is somewhat shocked, but that shock is immediately replaced with joy.

"Blizzard!" He runs up to his old dapple gray horse, patting his neck and grinning widely.

"How in the world did you find him?" He asks, not taking his eyes off of his long lost friend.

"I had to pull a few strings, but I have some... connections." I grin, thinking back to Scarlett. Scarlett's friend, Tina, had bought Blizzard, and I was able to get him back.

"How did you buy him? I'll pay you back whatever he costed,"

"Well, that might be sorta difficult, considering the owners gave him to us for free."

"What? But-how-"

"It's a long story not worth mentioning." I assure him, looking back at Blizzard.

"I like the bow, nice touch." Kayden says sarcastically, gesturing to the large pink bow tied around his horse's neck.

"I thought I might make him a bit festive for the occasion," I smile, straightening the bow.

"Well, I can't thank you enough for this. This is the greatest gift I could have asked for." He hugs me before putting on a cheesy grin, "wanna go for a ride?"

"When do I ever 'not wanna go on a ride'?" I chuckle, helping Kayden tack up Blizzard.

Once we're done, I mount up on him, scooting behind the saddle to make room. Kayden mounts in front of me, and we ride straight over to my house. Once we reach our barn, I quickly slide off Blizzard and run to the barn. I go over to General's stall, I've been riding General since Pepper is pregnant and all.

Kayden is waiting for me to tack up, but instead I just keep General in the stall, pretending to tack up.

After a few minutes, I hoist myself up onto General's bare back.

"Are you coming?" He asks.

"Yeah," I kick General and he bolts out of the stall, racing through the barn and past a very shocked Kayden.

"Race you to the cliff!" I shout as General gallops full speed down our trail. I glance back, seeing that Kayden is catching up on Blizzard.

I grip General's mane tighter, and squeeze in my heels just a bit more.

We shoot ahead, leaving Kayden and Blizzard in the dust.

I see the cliff straight ahead, and urge General to continue.

I'm caught up in riding so I don't notice at first when a blur shoots past us, stopping when they reach the cliff. I slow General a bit, allowing him to slide to a stop at the cliff's edge.

I just gawk at Kayden.

"How-how did you do that?" I ask, amazed that he somehow won.

He just chuckles, "Blizzard may be old, but he's not slow."

I punch his arm before nudging General into a brisk trot.

"Hey, you're not mad at me are you?"

"Me? Mad? Naaaaaaaw I could never be mad." I giggle, laying back on General's smooth backside.

"Sorry, I should've let you win," he sighs a little too dramatically.

"Hey, General and I just didn't want to hurt your feelings so we slowed down."

He bursts out a strange noise that is somewhere in between a cough and a laugh.

"You don't believe me?"

"Well, no. Blizzard could beat General anyday."

"Let's put that theory to the test."

I sit back up on General before leaning forward into a jokey's position.

I dig my heels into his sides and he takes off, wind ripping through his mane.
