Chapter 10: Motherly Duties

Meanwhile, Victoria came to sit on a cliff, that overlooked the city; it was always her favorite spot to go to when she was down or needed to think. As she sat there, she considered throwing herself over the ledge...at least then she'd see her family again. She didn't blame Andrea or Jay for acting that way towards her, after all, her story sounded preposterous and straight out of a sci-fi adventure. Still, there was a piece of her that hoped...that needed them to believe her because right now she didn't even believe in herself.

Despite being in a timeline with her parents alive and being the more powerful one in the family, she still couldn't help but feel she failed her parents, the gods, and everyone she held dear in the future". She was supposed to be off finding a solution, getting stronger, and training, and all she was doing is sitting there, getting weaker and nearing the end of her resolve. She lost her family, her friends and was doing nothing but weighing Carlos down, she thought to herself. In fact, she wondered if Carlos really still loved her or if he was staying because they are bound for eternity.

She was having so many negative thoughts that she gave in fighting them and just let them take over. She stood up and stared at the ledge before putting one foot over the rail, then the other, closing her eyes and letting go. She felt the wind rush over her face before it suddenly stopped and she felt her feet touch solid ground again. As she opened her eyes, she saw Andrea and Jay rushing over to her with tears in their eyes. Andrea reached her first and pulled her into a tight hug and said "Sweetie I'm so sorry...I know you're telling the truth even if I don't remember...me and dad are gonna be here for you don't you worry but please don't try anything like that again". 

Victoria who was now beginning to blackout in her mother's arms said in a weak tone "Thank you, that's all I ever needed". She passed out in her mother's arms with a smile on her face before Andrea and Jay hauled her into the truck and took off headed for home. Jay sighed and said, "Good thing Carlos was right about her being here otherwise that would've been it". Andrea shook her head in shock before saying "I can't imagine what this poor girl has gone through, but it must've been horrible to drive her to suicide". 

He said, "Well we will just have to be there and listen to her and care for her like a child until she's feeling better". Andrea said "All the girl wanted and needed is our love in this situation so we'll have to start there...but first we gotta clear the air with the family which I'll do...I want you to take her upstairs, watch over her and make sure she's gonna be okay...according to that book Aula gave me before we met, our emotions affect our powers and can even turn them against us if it's bad enough". Jay nodded and said, "okay I will as they pulled into the driveway and prepared for all hell to break loose".

Jay picked Victoria up and carried her on his back as Andrea opened the front door to find Aula sitting on the couch and her mother standing there with a disgruntled look. Julie said, "Andrea and Jay we need to have a serious discussion". Andrea said, "Just talk to me please...she tried to kill herself and I need him to take care of her". Julie nodded and said, "Take her upstairs Jay, we'll try not to be too loud". Before he left, Julie walked over and pricked Victoria's finger, and then Jay's, and putting the blood into separate vials and walked out the door and saying "Stay put".

An hour later, she came back home with an envelope that told her what she already had knew. She looked at Andrea and said, "This is you and Jay's daughter 100% now please tell me why you didn't tell me you had superpowers and were destined to fight evil with Jay". Andrea said, "Simple...if I had told you, you would've put me in a cuckoo house". Her mother nodded and said, "Good point...hell I still don't believe it". Andrea rolled her eyes before shooting purple lasers out of both of her eyes and lifting the couch with one hand". Her mother grinned and said "That all you got?" and she said, "no but thanks to whatever's happening, there are no other gods to train us".

Aula smiled and said, "Andrea I got this, I'll show your mother, since at this point in time you don't know anything...but Victoria does...we need to nurse her back to health if we're ever gonna hope to fully understand exactly what's happening". Andrea nodded and headed upstairs to Carlos's room and knocked on the door before entering. When she entered the room, he was reading the book Aula gave Andrea which made her frown as she thought he had stolen it.

He looked down and then back at her before saying "This is the book you give us in the future after keeping it locked away" and she nodded and relaxed her face. She walked over and said" Victoria tried to kill herself...she told me all she wanted was our love...so I'm asking you to stand aside for a bit and let me and Jay try to fix her...I'm not saying you aren't a part of the family but whatever's hurting Victoria has to do with us". Carlos said "I understand...I saw it happen, but I'll let her tell you...anyways it's true, she needs you two more than ever and I need some time as well to deal with my problems and continue studying". 

He smiled and said, "If Victoria's happy then I'm happy, plus when this mess is all over, I'll see her every day once we start our own life together". Andrea hugged him and said "I'll be proud to call you my son-in-law one day" and he smiled and said "Thanks and I know you're new to this but try to take good care of her...she's special and you'll figure out why soon". Andrea nodded and opened the door as Carlos said "Oh a few more things; her favorite food is pizza, her favorite color is pink and despite being 18 she's still into unicorns and princesses heavily and her favorite show she still watches to this day is star vs the forces of evil". Andrea nodded and said "thank you" before closing the door and heading to her own room, where her daughter continues to lie unconscious.
