When Jungkook and his soldiers reach the peak of the mountain separating Voreion from Thalassia, his eyes widen in horror as a thick, billowing wall of smoke greets him.
"Quickly!" Jungkook shouts and desperately urges his horse forwards.
"Voreion is on fire!" The soldiers shout as they race to protect their home.
As Jungkook nears the burning mountains, his heart begins to break. No matter how hard he tries to link his mate, he cannot get through. "Fuck! Tae! Dear! Answer me!" He looks at his shoulder and sees that his mark is turning an ominous black. "How did I not feel it burning?" He whispers in horror as his stomach begins to churn.
When Jungkook nears the burning forest, he summons a huge gust of wind and blows out the fire, then summons rain to cool the ground and to put out the rest of the fire.
"King Jeon!" The soldiers protecting Voreion shout out in relief. "King Jeon has returned!"
"Captain Min! Tell me what is happening!" Jungkook shouts and quickly dismounts as his soldiers flood the battlefield.
"Ohkta, Eldhellen, and Chrysos all attacked under the command of the King of Ohkta. Taehyung created the strategy that put us at an advantage despite our numbers being smaller; however, he put his life at risk." Yoongi whispers towards the end when he sees Jungkook's darkening mark.
"Where is he?" Jungkook desperately asks as tears pool in his eyes.
When Yoongi points to the burned forest, Jungkook's eyes widen in horror. Before Jungkook can move, Namjoon sprints into the forest and calls out for Jin. Jungkook quickly snaps out of his trance and runs into the forest.
"Taehyung! Answer me!" Jungkook shouts as tears stream down his face. "TAEHYUNG!"
As Taehyung weakly flutters his eyes open, he looks up at the clear sky and smiles then chokes on his blood. Jungkook is here.
"Taehyung! TAE! WHERE ARE YOU?!" Jungkook screams as he races through the charred forest and sorts through the burned and broken bodies of the dead and injured. When he sees the body of a large animal curled up around something, Jungkook quickly runs to it. "Bjorn?" Jungkook whispers and gently places his hand on the bear.
When Jungkook looks down and sees what Bjorn is protecting, Jungkook suddenly sobs and collapses to the ground. "L-look at m-me. Please." Jungkook sobs as he gently cradles Taehyung's head in his hands.
"M-my Jungkook." Taehyung weakly whispers and coughs up blood.
"It is me. Your Jungkook found you." Jungkook sobs and carefully pulls Taehyung out of Bjorn's protective embrace. Bjorn opens his eyes when he feels Taehyung being moved out of his embrace. When he sees Jungkook, he rolls off of Taehyung.
Jungkook chokes on a sob when he sees Taehyung's injured state and quickly stands to his feet.
"Jungkook! Have you seen Jin?!" Namjoon sobs when he sees Jungkook.
"I-I am sorry. I have not." Jungkook whispers as his tears stream down his face while he cradles his dying husband in his arms.
When Jungkook runs out of the forest with Taehyung in his arms, several healers run over to him and begin tending to Taehyung's gruesome wounds. The soldiers all quickly bow when they see that their Queen is severely injured.
"Kill every single enemy that is left," Jungkook growls as his eyes flash red in anger.
"Yes, Your Majesty." They all quickly stand and then rush to kill the fleeing enemy.
"Help me!" Namjoon shouts as he runs out of the forest with Jin limply laying in his arms.
"Take them back to the castle," Jungkook tells the healers and kisses Taehyung on the forehead. "Namjoon, we have another king to kill," Jungkook growls the turns to his white wolf.
