The night decorated her skies with countless stars. The fresh scent of pine and wild daisies filled the air, the water ripples babbled a peaceful tune as they brushed against the dock. In the distance could be heard laughter of numerous children as they chattered amongst themselves in the old mess hall cabin nearby.
It all seemed picture perfect, well except for the sound of hushed cries.....
At the end of the dock sat a little boy with his knees pushed up to his chest, his small arms wrapping around them in the hopes of giving him comfort.
The sudden creek of the old wooden planks caused the boy to gasp and turn to see a little girl walking towards him.
The girl gave him a gentle wave as she approached him.
The boy sniffles and harshly wipes away his tears. "You shouldn't be out here." The boy murmured as he turned away from the little girl.
The little girl smiled sympathetically and shrugged. "Yeah I know."
The boy said nothing as he watched her sit down next to him from the corner of his eye. The girl dug around in her pockets as she pulled out a crumpled up napkin and offered it to him.
"I'm sorry about what happened back there." The girl muttered out softly to him. "If it means anything to you, your ideas sounded amazing."
"......I just want to go home..."
The girl nodded her head in an understanding way as she looked down at the rippling water. "But it's only the third day of camp, maybe you should give it more time?"
Her hand was still holding out the napkin to the boy. He eyed it for a while before meekly taking it from her and muttering out a thank you. He turned his head away from feeling embarrassed as he wiped his tears away.
"Why? No one can stand me already...you heard what the other kids said about my ideas...stupid and weird.."
The girl frowned at his response. "Well maybe if you stayed, maybe you could change their minds." She looked down at her hands. "If we were friends...would you stay?"
The boy propped his chin up on his knees as he looked out towards the water. "I don't think you would want to be friends with me.."
Y/n bashfully smiled. "Well I think I do, you seem like a ball of sunshine."
His eyes widened as his face began to flush. His lips turned into a small smile as he wiped away a few loose tears. "I-I think you meant annoying." He said feeling bashful.
The girl shook her. "Nope! I meant sunshine." She grinned warmly. "Besides I got weird ideas too."
The boy felt relief washing over him, maybe he will stay, it might be easier if he had a friend with him. The girl turned her attention to the stars in the sky. The boy wiped his reddened eyes as he tried to look to where the girl was pointing.
