I walked into school already tired and wanting to go home.

My school is fairly small and usually in the mornings it is pretty dead. Just teachers walking around, coffee cups in hand, and students with school bags trudging to class. This morning, the school was all a flurry. Cops milled around the hallways talking to people. Teachers looked worried and even more worn out than usual. It took me a second to grasp what was going on.

Another fucking kid had gone missing. I didn't know who but I was afraid to ask. What if it was one of the kids I didn't hate? I didn't know what I would do if I lost another person.

The loud speaker began to blare a message.

"Everyone report to the gym immediately," the speaker announced. The flow of students swept me up and started dragging me to the gym.

The gym was packed. It looked like everyone in the school was there. The principle stood with a mic infant of her. Two police officers flanked her on each side. She tapped the mic to get everyone attention. Everyone stopped talking and looked at her.

"There has been another disappearance," Ah, so my suspicions were right. I wasn't surprised.

"Finney Blake, a student from seventh grade disappeared on Friday night and has not been seen since," she informed us, her voice pained. I didn't recognize the name at first but slowly it started to ring a bell.

Robin always talked about Finney. He always talked about how great Finney was but also how much Finney needed to be protected. Somehow, I felt like I had failed Robin. I hadn't protected Finney when he couldn't. I was not going to let Robin down.
