I cut up my passport and throw the scraps in the bin. My birth certificate is next. I turned to Ethan

"That was easier than expected" my twin smiles

"Yeah. Who are you again?" I laugh

"We have to be related. Brother sister at least. We look to similar" it was true. Even though we are I un identical twins, Ethan and I can easily be identical if I cut my hair short. We both have the same strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. We are the same height, and build, though Ethan is much stronger than me.

"I agree," Ethan says "I reckon we should stay twins. It'll be easier"

"Okay. What do you want your name to be?" Ethan thinks about this

"I'll be...Jai"

"Really?" I ask "Jay?"

"Yes. But spelt differently. J-A-I" I smile

"That's a cute name. It's for both girls and boys. Certainly beats Ethan" Ethan growls

"Anything beats your name, Emma!" He says, pronouncing my name teasingly. I poke my tongue out at him

"Alrighty then, I'll be...Jessica. Jai and Jessica. Perfectly normal twin names" I scribble them down "when we get off this boat, we'll go straight to that forger, Sam. Do you still have his address?"

"Right here!" Ethan pulls a piece of crumpled paper out of his pocket, then tucks it back in again "ready?" I nod, suddenly nervous. I hear another boat approaching

"Okay, here they come, get ready" I glance at Ethan "this has to be convincing." Ethan nods, and takes my hand

"It's will be our last minute as Ethan and Emma Hunt. Say hello to Jai and Jessica...." He looks at me "last name?"

"Umm..." I bite my lip "something plain and boring. I'd say Smith, but that is a bit cliché" Ethan nods

"Oh well, we'll decide when we get to London. See? There it is?" He points to the faraway city. My stomach turns with excitement. Ethan glances over his shoulder

"They're here. Lets go!" He grips my hand tightly as he takes out his lighter and prepares to set our oil soaked boat alight.

Gunshots rip through the air

"Shit!" Ethan swears, and clicks the lighter desperately. Of course, in this moment, it chooses to be difficult and not light.

"God dammit come on!" I hiss, at the lighter, though I doubt it can hear me. More gunshots. At last, it flickers to life

"Yes!" Ethan says, and drops it to the ground, where it quickly eats up the trail of oil

"Lets jump! Quick!" I say. That's been the plan all along. We jump, the boat explodes, and they think we died with it. Easy.

"Emma..."

"What are we waiting for?"

"Emma..."

"WHAT?" I spin around, then gasp. Ethan pulls his hand away from the dripping hole in his abdomen. It's covered in blood, and Ethan is already pale

"No!" I shriek "please please please no!" I rush to him, trying to help, but he shoves my hands away

"Em you have to go-"

"I'm not leaving you"

"Go or I'll never forgive myself! I can't swim with this wound. I'll slow you down and the blood will lead them to you!" He looks at me with pleading eyes "please go!" I shake my head

"No! I'll...I'll pull you! It's not too far! I can make it!" I see the flames licking up the sides of our boat. Soon, it will reach the engine. If we don't get off this boat, we actually will die

"Come on Ethan!" I am almost crying "please please please just come on!" I think I convince him, he walks a few steps until we are standing right at the edge of the boat, and looks as if he is preparing to jump.

"Ready?" I say "one, two, THREE!" I jump in.

The freezing water hits me, shockingly cold. I swim to the surface. Ethan is no where in sight

"Ethan?" I call out "Ethan where are you?" Then I spot him.

He is still on the boat.

He is waving to me.

Waving goodbye.

Then the boat explodes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Red, yellow, and orange flames burst into the air. Tattered boat pieces twirl in the air. Ethan was on that boat
"ETHAN!" I scream "NO!" I try to swim towards the flaming remains, but more explosions send waves that push me backwards. I am crying and gasping "no no no no no no!" I repeat over and over again, though it is very clear. Ethan was on that boat. Ethan is dead. I scream. No no no. I thrash in the water, crying, not caring if anyone can hear. No no no.
At last, exhausted and alone, I decide to just let myself float. I don't care if I die. Ethan is dead. He didn't jump with me.
After hours at sea, I eventually wash up on a beach. Well, maybe an island. I don't know, I don't care. I can't see, my eyes won't open. All I can hear is my breath and heartbeat.
I should get up. Try to find shelter. Or water, or food. But I don't care anymore.
I'm going to die. Nobody will be around this time of night. They will find a limp, soaked body, with no ID. But, I decide, I will not die Emma Hunt. She was left behind on the boat. She died hours ago. No, this new girl, who will be gone soon, will have a new name.
The last thought that passes through my head before I die is:
My name is Jai.
