{My first story on Wattpad, bear with me!}

"How do you feel?" McKenzie heard a voice say from above her. She fluttered her long black eyelashes open halfway and squeezed them shut again because all she could see was a bright light shining directly at her. "Oh sorry," the voice spoke again, "I should take this light off your face." She opened her eyes again to see a boy standing above her, with a huge grin plastered on his face. She realized she was laying on he couch of her family's vacation home in Miama, Florida, but she didn't recognize this boy. He was tall, tan, and had a slight Spanish accent. He also had two deep dimples in his cheek which were extremely visible because his smile went from ear to ear. Did I mention he was shirtless?

"Can you stop smiling at me like that? It's creeping me out..." McKenzie said with attitude in her voice.

"I'm sorry." The boy said, but he continued smiling and didn't seem he least bit apologetic. McKenzie scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"Well can I ask who you are? And why are you in my house, shirtless, staring at me with a clown smile on your face?"

"Well," the boy started, "I'm Jonah, I work here, it's 96 degrees (Fahrenheit) outside, and you blacked out by the pool so I was waiting for you to wake up. I was probably smiling because your beauty is so radiant." McKenzie felt her caramel colored cheeks turn a dark red for a quick second.

"Well Jonah, what do you mean you work here? the only person who works here is Hernandez, and why were you in my backyard? And by the way, your pickup line needs a lot of work."

"You ask a lot of questions senorita. but Hernandez is my father. I'm here working with him so I can get some extra money. I was cleaning the pool when I saw you slip and fall. I took you inside to help you.

"Well thank you for helping me, but can I get up now?" McKenzie asked with a hint of annoyance in her voice.

"Sure, okay," he shrugged. McKenzie shot up and immediately dropped back down becasuse of a sharp pain in the back of her head.

"Ow!" she cried out rubbing the back of her head gently.

"Oh, I forgot to mention, you kinda fell backwards and hit your head so you're not going anywhere anytime soon. I'll go get you some ice.” Jonah said, the clown grin gracing his tan face once again.

“You’re getting a kick out of this aren’t you?” she yelled to him as he was halfway to the kitchen.

“Hmm… No, not really,” he replied as he walked back towards her with an ice pack in his hand. “I mean, you’re hurt, that’s not a good thing, but I gotta admit, it’s gonna be fun playing doctor.” He grabbed an apple out of the bowl on the glass table and plopped down on the couch next to her after placing the icepack in between her head and the pillow. He turned on the t.v. to Spongebob and bit into the apple.

“You’re watching Spongebob? How old are you? And you can’t just help yourself to anything in here, In don’t know you.”

“Again with the questions? Yes, I’m watching Spongebob, it’s funny. I’m 17. Yes I can help myself to anything in here because I live here. Not are you going to lay back and rest your head or continue wasting your breath?”

McKenzie was silent and blinked in shock. Who did this boy think he was? Noone spoke to her that way. But instead of retorting like she normally would, she lay back onto the ice pack and her eyes immediately widened.  “It’s so cold!” she exclaimed.

“Well, it’s ice, I’d be concerned if it was hot.” Jonah responded sarcastically.

“Ha ha ha you’re sooo funny” She replied with a straight face.
