❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁It was another sun-shiny day in the neighborhood, and I was trying to relax in my favorite reading chair. It was right by the bookshelf for easy access, and right by the window for just the right amount of light. I crossed my legs on my green-cushioned chair and turned another worn-out page of my favorite butterfly encyclopedia. I sighed, looking out the window at the front yard garden.
The tulips and daffodils were growing nicely, though I could see a few weeds that would need to be pulled soon. Just then, someone walked around the corner. Someone new, a neighbor I didn't recognize. I leaned towards the window with a frown. He was dressed in a uniform with a rainbow tie and carrying a bag of letters, I assumed he was a mailman. His big eyes sparkled as he looked at the front lawn flowers. He wasn't paying attention to where he was walking and almost tripped, the pile of packages in his left hand wobbling precariously. I chuckled as I watched him juggle the packages to keep them from falling and stumble to my mailbox. After rummaging around in his red and yellow mailbag, he lightly placed a few letters in my mailbox and walked away whistling a tune. I followed him with my eyes until he was out of sight and then sat back in my chair. I wasn't sure why seeing this new neighbor made me feel so pleasant, but I smiled to myself anyway. A feeling like that wasn't normal for me, and I quickly shook it off.
"Who could this new neighbor be? Probably nobody important..." I thought to myself, sitting comfortably back down and picking my favorite book back up.
❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁-❁"TOWN MEETING EVERYONE, TOWN MEETING! NEW NEIGHBOR NEW NEIGHBOR!" Wally rode down the street on a bicycle, a megaphone in hand.
"This early in the morning...?" I mumbled to myself. I had only woken up minutes ago, and not to mention I was still in my butterfly-printed dressing gown and slippers. The sun had just risen over the horizon, casting a pink and orange glow over the neighborhood.
"MEET OUTSIDE THE POST OFFICE! C'MON, NEIGHBORS!" Wally shouted, whizzing by my house and nearly destroying my daffodils. "Great, another early-morning town meeting AND a new neighbor to annoy me. "How perfect..." I grumbled, eyeing my daffodils.
(Timeskip tehe)
"Frank! There you are!" Julie laughed, running up to me. I was last to show up to the town meeting, as usual.
"We have a new neighbor moving here! We're all so excited to meet them! Aren't you excited?" Julie squealed, jumping up and down. Julie, I suppose, was my very best friend. Her big hair bounced along with her bright pink dress. "I guess..." I sighed. Everyone else was already here, talking with excitement outside the post office. Poppy was particularly excited, with her feathers flying through as she happily flapped her wings. Now that I had arrived, Wally went up to the door. "Okay, neighbor! Everyone is here now, why don't you introduce yourself?" The door opened and out walked the clumsy mailman I had seen the day before. A small smile reached my lips as I recalled the memory, though it quickly turned back to a frown."Uh... hi! My name is Eddie- Eddie Dear! But uh, you can just call me Eddie! Heh..." The man said with a smile. "Wonderful to meet you all!" His voice was deep and amicable, with a bit of a southern drawl. It was, for some odd reason, the most calming and friendly voice I'd ever heard. "Nice to meet you, Eddie! I'm Wally!" said Wally. He gestured to everyone else.
"I'm Poppy! It's a pleasure to meet you, Eddie."
"Barnaby!"
"Sally Starlet, actor extraordinaire- at your service!"
"Howdy there, I'm Howdy!"
"I'm Julie-Julie Joyful!"
Eddie smiled and looked at everyone going to shake his hand. Howdy held out all four of his hands to Eddie's surprise.
Everyone was talking and laughing until Eddie's eyes fell on me. "Oh! I didn't see you there... What's your name?" He asked, stopping and walking over to me. "Oh, me? I'm uh... Frank." I said, fiddling with my bowtie. Why was I so nervous? Why do I feel so strange?
"Oh well nice to meet you, Frank! I hope I can see you again soon!" He said, waving and walking back to the post office. I stood there watching him until he was out of sight. I crossed my arms with a huff and began walking away from the building and back toward my house.I hope I never see him again. Stupid neighbors. I don't like the way he makes me feel.
I glanced back at the post office. Or... do I?
