Adriana
Later that same day
It was supposed to be spring and usually sunny at this time of year. But from the rain pouring down outside heavier and heavier.
It felt like winter had come a lot earlier then I thought it would.
"Adriana, I'm home" I heard my brother Dominic step inside of our hut after a hard day's work copping wood in the village nearby.
I beamed in his direction stood in the kitchen before returning back to cook dinner on the boiling hot stove.
Coney in Civey.
"Father isn't home yet?" Dominic questioned, shrugged his shoulders causally strolling into the kitchen.
"No" I answered in a nonchalant tone slowly stringing each the cooking ingredients in the pot. "He said he would be home after an urge meeting with the queen"
Dominic had his eyes fixed on the rain outside the window. As he was in a trace. "Do you know when he's going be back?" He sliced back his thick soaked almond brown hair above his head.
I snook my head turning away from the pot for a few seconds. "No I have no idea" I informed him as the food's favours entered my nostrils "Hopefully he won't be too long"
After we sat at the kitchen table to have our Coney in Civey.
The rain had finally stopped.
But I wondered how long that would last?
Dominic turned around mid in our conversation looking dumbfounded at the window.
"Have you been by the barn at anytime today?" He asked cautiously speaking in a lower tone.
I snook my head and quickly shrugged my shoulders. "No, Dom I've been mostly in indoors all day. Why do you ask?"
Dominic frantically stood on his feet and grabbed a spare axe from up the wall.
"Someone's broken into it!" he said through his teeth and turned to me protectively. "Be on the look out and stay here"
Resting my hands on my sides I argued furrowing my brows. "But what if I don't want to?"
Dominic.
Always.
Hated.
It.
When.
I.
Didn't.
Listen.
To.
Him.
"Fine, Adriana you win!" Dominic huffed storming out of the hut on a warpath. I grabbed a shovel close by the front door as a aim warrior to protect myself.
We slowly waded towards the barn and saw the door mysteriously wide opened on its own.
Dominic and i entered into the barn together aimed and ready.
Scanning our eyes we searched from top to bottom.
But there was nothing.
No.
One.
Was.
Here.
"I guess we have nothing to worry after all" I spoke up a in lighthearted tone and turned around to return back to the hut.
Until a girl screamed in afraid and appeared out of nowhere. She stood up from a pile of hay soaked from the rain and covered in blood.
Dominic held up his axe to protect himself as I did with my shovel before she get any closer.
As we were about to attack she faint out of exhaustion.
But the real question was?
Who.
Is.
This.
Girl.
And.
Why.
Is.
She.
In.
Our.
Barn.
Whatever happened to her before she came here. Really did a number on her.
My brother and I looked at one another startled as to what we had just witnessed.
"So what do we do now Dom?" I inquired widen eyes and clearly panicked then I usually was.
Dominic put his hands on of my shoulders to reassurance me. "Go to the palace and find father he'll what do to"
"What about you?" I mumbled almost mouse like. "I'll stay here and give an eye on the girl"
"Anon" I hugged Dominic then ran out of the barn to head the palace and find our my father.
Because.
In.
Times.
Like.
This.
He.
Knew.
What.
Do.
To.
