It had been 2 weeks since Frankie had floated and announced that things for the potential cataclysm were kicking off.

Andre had been endlessly busy. Dozens of celestials had been in contact regarding turning the Pinson, suburb of Birmingham, into a beachhead in the war against demonic forces on Earth.

When Andre wasn't using the circle, Caleb was. The elementals he summoned were doing work for the family business Infinity Brand Ltd. and the number of jobs that needed elemental support had begun to pick up. People started remodeling jobs, cleaning up old junk from the yard, stripping paint from buildings without damaging the structure, and things of that like.

Tilly and Kyle were also insanely busy. It was like the entire area knew subconsciously that something was coming and were doing their best to prepare for it.

Frankie was still relearning his defensive abilities because of a massive power boost when the bad karma had been removed from his soul. Although he was making progress his abilities seemed to be continuing to become more powerful.

At any given time, there were at least a pair of celestials of some kind making their way around Pinson, and demons that had taken hold in the area were quickly taking to the air and fleeing the area. While the humans suspected something was coming the demons were sure of it.

Demonic thralls who lived in Pinson were finding reasons to move into the city, job promotions, or lateral movement that put them out of the area. Slowly the small city was being purified. House Tchecha, the local Infernal House that controlled Birmingham, Alabama, had taken notice that they were losing control of Pinson and attempted to take back control several times but were met with overwhelming celestial force. Human groups of thralls attempting to enter the area found themselves turned back by mechanical issues with vehicles or physical ailments inflicted by the growing holy aura of the city.

While those who remained, and those who were moving into the area, were of the more righteous variety. There was a looming air of trepidation as if something was hovering in the distance, and everyone was unsure as to whether it was going to be good or bad.

"How long do you think it'll be until Ms. Fontaine connects the uprising here in Pinson and us?" asked Frankie one day after work.

"Soon, I would imagine. It's not every day that a suburb on the edge of a major infernal stronghold transforms into a celestial beacon." Replied Andre, "If her gremlin problems allow her to see anything past the end of her nose that is. My contacts in Detroit have said the Houseton, Reba, and Kline are looking to move their headquarters to another part of the city, or out of the city entirely."

Ms. Fontaine was a lawyer working for the law firm of Houseton, Reba, and Kline. They had been hunting Andre and the other for over three and a half years on behalf of House Rataletan. Finding and converting or destroying the ascendant was a high priority.

"I wish I could get a front-row seat for the gremlin havoc." Said Tilly, "I own that woman for destroying my store. I know it's not a very nice thing to think, but I hope she loses everything and feels just a hair of the pain she's inflicted on others."

"I doubt that'll happen; she's so deeply rooted in bad karma that all feelings of empathy have probably fled a long time ago." Replied Kyle.

Frankie was busy scanning the mail and a piece of it came out with a red glow, meaning that it had some form of evil attached to it, a hex or curse usually. "We have another red letter, Andre." He said as he worked an unraveling rune over the letter, a glowing topaz aura appeared around the red and quickly stifled and destroyed it.

Andre took the letter, it had come through the forwarded PO box chain, inside was a powerful pain rune, along with a simple line that said Contact me and a phone number with a Michigan area code. "That's interesting, it's nonlethal, meant to inflict massive pain but not kill, that's a break in character as is the contact me part. I wonder what Ms. Fontaine wants this time, besides our surrender."
