Andre and the others were sitting around the table the morning after the rescue of Frankie and Janice's daughter Celeste. Janice and Celeste had taken Frankie's room and Frankie had slept on the couch.
The 6 of them sat drinking coffee and contemplating what this new addition to the family meant.
"It's weird, I don't think any of us but Kyle knows what it's like to have kids." Said, Andre.
"Hey!" said Conroy.
"OK, you and Kyle."
"I stay in touch with her and my wife every day via face time, there's a time difference with France so we have a little overlap here and there. We miss each other like crazy, but we all understand what's at stake. You missed the fun ages, being up all night with a baby, a terrible toddler, the first day of school, plus a hundred other little moments."
Andre's phone rang, "Hello?"
"It wasn't me. I had nothing to do with taking the child." Said Ms. Fontaine.
"I have some people who would disagree with you, she was being held in your office."
Frankie's eyes began to glow and trails of energy wisped away from the edges.
"Was I there? I'm motivated, I'm driven, and some might even say I'm evil. But I'm not a monster. The order to take the girl and her mother came from our client. I had no part in it, that was shunted to another member of the firm because I wouldn't do it. An eager fool. I'm sure you met him. Frankie ripped his finger off."
"And why should I believe you? You've made it quite clear you have no qualms about killing innocents."
"There is a difference. Casualties are to be expected, but I don't aim for an orphanage or a hospital. I have standards I abide by, you may not agree with them, or believe that they exist, but I do have a personal code." She spoke.
"Give me the phone." Said Frankie, anger radiating off of him like a steam boiler radiated heat.
Andre held up a hand, "You need to get out of the blast radius. I might have mercy, and this is your one chance, but you are quickly removing that option from us, one at a time. My advice to you is to pack a bag, move to someplace with a name you can't pronounce, find a cave, and pull it in behind you. If we find you, all bets are off. I'm not sure if you're the person who would take a kid. I honestly wouldn't put it past you. If you stay, I will not be responsible for what happens to you. That's on your head."
"It's too late for that. Far too late. I may be on a sinking ship, but you're coming down with me. Tell Frankie, it wasn't me. I don't care if any of you believe it. But for once it's the truth. A true thing from an infernal lawyer, mark that on the calendar. You have 18 days. Leave, take the girl and her mother, and leave. We'll come for you eventually, but that could be a year or more away. We'll consolidate here first and begin our client's expansion plans." She said.
"Give. Me. The. Phone." Frankie held out his hand. It was no longer a request.
Andre passed him the phone.
"You need to take Andre's advice, run, hide, but in the end, there will be no rock, no hole, no cave, no barren island that will be able to shelter you from me forever. I will find you, I will kill you, and I will watch as the demons drag your soul screaming into hell."
He handed the phone back to Andre and walked into the back yard and released a blast of pure rage-driven magical energy into the sky.
"Just run." Said Andre and then he hung up the phone.
