"Veronique! What are you doing, you’re taking forever. Do you want us to be late!?" Her eldest brother, Colt, yelled from down stairs. I sighed, rolling my eyes in annoyance.

'Just shut up. God.'

Veronique stared at herself in the full-length mirror, tilting her head. Her outfit consisted of an off the shoulder sleeveless shirt, that had 'Asking Alexandria' right on the front. She had on black leggings and white and black vans. She shrugged, flipping her red hair over her shoulder, feeling it touch the middle of her back. She sighed, staring back into her eyes which appeared to be a turquoise and green-ish color. She smirked, loving her eyes which. I considered them my best quality.

Figuring she was ready, she picked up her red back pack and tossed it over her shoulder. She exited out of her rather large room, and slammed the door shut. Turning back towards it she snatched the key off of her neck and locked her door then dropped the key down into her bra.

'So classy.' Her inner demon, Lydia said, scoffing.

Shut up. You’re much worse than me.

'Perhaps you are right for once, my Yang.' She agreed with Veronique, which was rare now days.

In this world, every person has a Yin and Yang.

Yang, being the good. Their Yin, otherwise known as their inner demon, is their counterpart. Without one another, they will surely die. They need each other to survive, and without one another, the consequences are deadly. At their coming of age, which is 21, they meet their other side and fight.

Whoever wins, wins the right to take full control of the body. The other part is banished into oblivion, lost in a deep sea of darkness, left with their thoughts. This will ultimately lead to them becoming totally, and utterly, insane.

"Colt. Do not yell at me like I am some fucking idiot!" Veronique scowled, staring up into the bright green eyes of her brother. He stared back down at her, towering over her, his 6'3 frame against her 5'10. He simply smiled, his dirty blonde hair falling over his forehead.

"Little sister, such language would make father displeased." His grin widened, only making her stick her tongue out at him.

"Shut up!"

"Make me."

"Oh, I bet I will."

Colt raised an eyebrow, challenging her. "Do it." Veronique just glared at her older brother, shooting daggers his way. Veronique and Colt never really got along since they were kids. Not only is there a slight age difference, Colt being 23 and Veronique being 19, Veronique resented the fact that Colt was a daddy's boy.
