You let out a sigh, raising your bowed head from the e-Handbook. The cloudy sky has given way to a clear starry night, and the rain had since stopped. Questions upon questions swirled through your mind, and every time you came up with any possible answer, there was something else that contradicted that possibility.
You let out a shaky breath, looking around you as your toes dipped into the pool just outside of the hotel. None of this was actually real, was it? As much as you wanted to insist that it wasn't actually happening, your mind would trail back to Monokuma's chilling voice.
His altering giggle made you shudder, and the hate and resentment behind his voice settled a pit in the bottom of your stomach.
It was real. As much you hated that fact, it was real.
"Hey," A voice rang out from behind you. You twisted around, locking eyes with a blonde boy.
"Hey..." you mumbled, returning your gaze to the rippling water of the pool. "Where's your shadow?"
"Oh, Peko?" He asked, lowering himself onto the pavement and crossing his legs. "She went to look around or whatever. She wanted me to come with her, but I said no. She won't let me fucking breath."
Your eyes met his and he sighed. "She just wants to keep me safe, but she won't give me any damn time to myself."
You chuckled, fiddling with your fingers as Fuyuhiko gazed at the water. "So, why did you come here?"
Fuyuhiko shrugged. "Not sure. But hey, why the hell not?"
You both chuckled, looking down at the water before Monokuma's voice rang out from a nearby monitor.
*ding dong bing bong*
"aHEM... Hopes Peak Academy's school trip executive committee has an announcement to make..."
Your body tensed and you sucked in a breath.
"It is now ten p.m.! Nighttime can be confusing. If you're out at night, and you meet a killer, then it sucks to be you! But if you're worried about that, and can't sleep, I've prepared a cottage on the hotel grounds for each of you! Every single one of you, please feel free to rest in your own rooms. However, before you go to bed, I strongly recommend you lock your doors! You never know who might be planning to kill you! Puhuhu!"
The last thing you heard before a quick crackle of static rang out was his chilling giggle.
You let out a breath that you hadn't realized you had been holding, relaxing your muscles as you sighed.
"Does it bother you?" Fuyuhiko asked.
"Hm?"
He gestured toward the monitor. "That damn bear's voice. Does it bother you?"
You nodded slowly. "A little."
Fuyuhiko blinked, turning his head and looking at you. You kept your eyes down, focused on the water.
"Why don't you talk to the other people?" You asked.
He huffed, rolling his eyes as he answered. "They're all dumbasses."
"And I'm not?" You chuckled, letting out a breathy laugh.
"Well-" he began, his cheeks dimming to a mellow pink. "W-well, you impressed me, so... you have an excuse."
"Getting nervous, are we?"
"Oh, you're one to talk with your dirty mind earlier!"
"Oh yeah, like I'm the only one who took what Teruteru said the wrong way!"
"I didn't!"
"Then how did you know I thought it meant something else?"
Fuyuhiko's already pink face deepened into a red. "Well- I... Um-"
"Knew it," You giggled. "You thought the same thing as the rest of us."
He shook his head, chuckling to himself. "Alright, alright. Fuckin' hell. I guess I did."
You lifted your legs from the edge of the pool, standing and grabbing your shoes as you sighed. "Well..." you breathed, dusting off your shirt with your free hand. "I'm going to go to check out my cottage."
Fuyuhiko nodded, leaning back on his hands. "Alright. I'm just gonna stay here for a while."
You hummed and turned to leave, stopping beside the opened gate of the pool. "Um, thanks for keeping me company...?"
Fuyuhiko didn't peel his eyes away from the water and he only chuckled, a small smile playing on his lips. "No problem. Don't expect this shit too often, though, alright, dumbass?"
A breathy laugh left your mouth as you began to walk away from the pool. "Noted, dipshit," you chuckled and you heard him softly laugh as you continued to walk away.
