IT WAS LATER IN THE DAY AND WEDNESDAY HAD managed to get rid of her Rave’N dance date by claiming he was the monster in the woods and got Sheriff Galpin to submit a forensics form on the bloody cloth she had found inside Xavier’s art studio. Today had been somewhat of a reminder that she worked faster alone, but despite that fact, she couldn’t help feeling that there had been something missing during the entire investigation.

Wednesday walked through Nevermore’s halls, not entirely sure where she was headed. She noticed her eyes keep drifting, watching every group of students that walked past her avidly, absent-mindedly searching for a tall, blonde Phoenix. She averted her eyes to the fountain, finding Eugene sitting on the edge of it. His head was bowed, a pensive, upset look on his face and his hands clasped in his lap.

“Why so glum?” Wednesday asked, stopping a few feet in front of him.

He raised his head with a frown. “Saw Helia at lunch. Asked if she got my honey.”
Wednesday raised her eyebrows. “You’ve seen Helia?”
