Nathalie POV

I lay in bed, uncomfortable but unwilling to move. I was definitely sick, my headache from last night had gotten worse. I finally got up and out of bed and dragged my feet along the cold marble tiles, stopping for a while as I reached the door to and from my bedroom, I opened the door with little to no energy and continued making my way to the kitchen, switching on the lights along the way. I poured myself a glass of water from a kettle that I had boiled water from last night. My cupboard door creaked as I slowly opened it, searching for my medicine, I had no glasses on but I could still, somewhat see. I finally found the medicine and quickly took it with a gulp of water.

Leaving my glass on the countertops, I walked back into my bedroom, picked up my glasses from the nightstand beside my bed and put them on, my head started spinning for a second as my eyes adjusted to the change. I headed towards my closet and picked out a soft, comfortable white shirt and a pair of black sweatpants.

I noticed the slight mist in the air and checked the time on my clock, '8.49 am' it read. My shift started about 19 minutes ago, but it didn't matter anyways. I had no intention of going to work today, I should've probably let my boss know about that but, it didn't matter. I'm sure he's doing just fine.

I made my way into my bathroom and lay my clothes on the towel rack, beside my towel. Closing my door and locking it after, I tied my hair into a bun as I didn't feel like washing it today, quickly undressed since I didn't want to stand in the cold too long and took off my glasses. I ran the shower and waited as the hot water arrived, it felt like it was burning my skin with every drop. I grabbed the bottle of apricot scented body wash and squeezed the perfect amount on my palm and began rubbing it over my body. Soon after, I rinsed off the soap and got out of the shower, wrapping myself in my warm towel. I changed my clothes and let down my hair, to tie it into a more comfortable lower bun.

I walked out of my bathroom and placed my dirty clothes in the laundry basket just under a table next to my closet and sunk into the comfort of my bed. I decided to message my boss and grabbed my phone from the nightstand, I switched on my phone and realized I had 3 missed calls from, yep, my boss, Gabriel Agreste. But then I heard a noise coming from my living room. I got out and dragged my blanket along with me. I looked around to see what was the noise and noticed a familiar figure at my window, he closed the window and drew the curtains. "Hawkmoth?.. Why are you here?" I asked, turning back to my bedroom as he followed behind me. "You didn't come into work, didn't pick up your phone and didn't reply to my messages. I just wanted to check on you. You're never late." He said entering my room as I lay my head back on my pillow.

"I'm fine. You can leave now" I said with a raspy voice, and he gently placed his hand on my forehead to check my temperature. I blushed a bit, not very visible but it was there. It's wrong, yes, but I was in love with him. Why? I don't exactly know but, you can't choose who you love. It's just, there. "I'll be back." He said, leaving my bedroom

I pulled my blanket over me to shield me from the cold air and heard him outside quietly saying, "Nooroo, dark wings fall" a few minutes later he had come back with a cold, damp towel, a glass of water and definitely not Hawkmoth, just.. Gabriel Agreste. He left the glass on my nightstand and gently placed the towel on my forehead, I wasn't gonna tell him, but, I enjoyed this a bit too much. "How do you feel?" He asked while holding my palm in his hand, rubbing soothing circles with his thumb. I closed my eyes and replied with a short "Fine". "Be honest, Nat." He said looking at me as I opened my eyes to meet his, concern filled in his grey-blue eyes.

My heart started beating faster as my mind processed what he just called me. It only made it worse that I was keeping that eye contact. 'Nat', the way he said it, it kept ringing in my head until he spoke again "Nathalie? Is something wrong?" His question had snapped me out of my mind, "No, nothing, I'm alright." I answered, leaving my thoughts at a dead end. "Did you take any medicine yet?" He asked. "Yes, are you leaving?" I questioned as he let go of my hand. "No, no of course not love." He assured me. He sounded so.. convincing I didn't know what to say or think, 'love'? Did he really just call his assistant 'love'? I blushed harder, it was definitely visible now. I didn't know what to feel as I watch his lie down next to me. "Get some rest love, I'll take care of you." He said, pulling me into a comforting embrace. I put the towel aside and gave in to his warm touch.

If only I would've known that one day would change my life.
