As the sun awakened and birds cawed, I was torn away from the comfort of my room and into a deep navy suit. As the man I was supposed to call my 'Father' dragged me across the halls of our sadly massive mansion, he yapped on about how "You need to find a wife immediately, you can't stay unmarried pass the age of 18!!!" Personally, I reckon this whole thing is bullshit. He sits me down on a chair in front of many, many women, all staring at me with lustful eyes. Bleurgh! As they all approached me and told me how beautiful they were and how they loved to sing and dance and draw and do other stereotypical hobbies. After what felt like ages, the last woman had passed. I was shocked how few there were this time. My father sighed as he pulled me up and started shoving me to my room.
"Drake, you need to accept yourself. You cannot stay locked up in your room playing stupid video games all day!!! You must respond to your royal duties!!!" "I need to respond to my duties!? You are they king of the whole fucking world and what your worried about is finding me a wife, even after I told you that I'm not interested!!" "I don't care Drake! You're my son, therefore you must be married and married soon!" "I hate you dad!"
As I shouted, I didn't realize the terrified look on my father's face. I didn't feel the wings sprouting across my back, or the horns growing from my head. When I finally stopped talking, my brother had entered room, staring at me, terrified. I looked at him. My first thought was that he was judging me. "You think this is funny?!" I yelled at him. He backed up. "N-no I..." Before he could finish, I had slashed his face. Blood poured down his cheeks as he stood there in shock and horror. Before I could apologize, everything went away. The wings, the tail, the horns, all gone. I saw tears run down his face as my dad rushed over to help him. Not from sadness or happiness, but from betrayal, and pain.
Just as my dad called for the palace's medics, I ran out. Too embarrassed to ever show my face again. I kept running until I reached the white wire fence, trapping me inside this prison. Me and my siblings only ever pass the fence when we must go on stupid tours for my dad stupid reputation, or when we go to hell. Hell meaning school. As I looked up at my cage, I made the decision. Today was the day I left. To go away wherever I could. The forest, or the coast. Maybe even outside of the country. I didn't care.
