Khalani Scott

I know school is important and I know I need to be focusing, but it's 9:30 on a Monday morning and I seem to be doing everything but focusing.

Who decided that students should be in an hour-long lecture this early in the morning?

After what I found the most tortuous hour of my life, I heard my professor finishing off his sentence knowing that was the last thing he was going to talk about in my lesson.

Thank God it's over.

Once he had bid his goodbyes, I started packing away my laptop to get as far away from this classroom as I possibly could, but before I had the chance, I was stopped by my professor.

"Miss Scott, If you could please stay for a quick minute, I need to talk to you about something."

I turned on my heels, facing him, forcing myself not to roll my eyes at him. I couldn't deal with any of his shit today.

"Yes?" I asked, keeping my question short.

"Miss Scott, I couldn't help but notice that you weren't paying any attention at all during my lesson. I mean, did you even get any notes written down?" He questioned me.

"What?"

"Khalani, answer my goddamn question!"

"I'm sorry, sir, but you're acting like everyone else who was in the lesson was paying their full attention to you, most of the class was dead asleep, it wasn't just me. You have no reason to be asking me about this, it doesn't really concern you."

I'm not necessarily wrong, it's not like I was doing a test and left the whole paper blank it was one lesson and it wasn't even important, I already knew half the shit he was teaching.

"Well I don't care about them Khalani, I care about you. So please, do give me a good reason why you were not giving me your attention." He said, as his tone sounded angrier and angrier.

"I don't know, sir, I'm sorry. I guess it's just too early for me to be concentrating." That was a pitiful excuse but I'm praying that it worked.

"Too early? Okay, listen here Khalani, I'm your professor, I can fail you just as fast as I can snap my fingers. I know how much you want to be a lawyer and I'm sure your zia and zio wouldn't be happy to hear you failed a test, would they?"

"No, please. I'm sorry, sir. I'll d-" Before I could finish my sentence the loud ringtone of his phone started.

He pulled his phone out of his pocket and looked at the screen before swiping up, "shit, I need to take this, stay right here, Khalani."

I watched him as he put the phone to his ear and the guy on the other line did not sound happy, he was yelling, really loud. I'd hate to be my professor right now.

Whoever rang is a literal angel though, now I can sneak out of the class. I think he's too caught up in getting yelled at by some guy to realize I'm sneaking out of his class.

Fuck you, Professor Jones.

Professor Jones is a really great friend to Matteo and Sofia, they would hate to know what he's like when they're not around.

The main reason I came to NYU to study law was that Matteo and Sofia thought that it would be a great opportunity to have someone I know teach me.

I didn't want to say no to them, so I agreed.

I wish I hadn't agreed, Professor Jones was always horrible to me behind closed doors, especially when he was alone with me, he would always make comments about my body and what I was wearing.
