Chapter 4
Pistol, check. Knife set, check. Switch blade, check. Silencer, check.
First day of school.
Turning out of my room with my messenger bag slung over my shoulder I heard the shower running as I walked down the steps , when I reached the bottom I turned into the kitchen walking to the cupboards, I opened it expecting some water bottles but found nothing. I flung my head back and opened my mouth to groan my it came out as a growl, a loud growl that echoed all around the house. I gasped and covered my mouth in attempt to quiet the growl, but it stopped as soon as I closed my mouth, I looked around frantically trying to see if anyone heard me. I assumed not but that was until I heard the shower stop that my breath got hitched in my throat, I looked around the kitchen trying to find a excuse but found nothing. I stopped my crazy search for an excuse and stopped and thought, maybe this was all just my mind playing tricks on me, yeah that was it. Happy that I found out why I growled I pranced out of the kitchen and back up the stairs to say bye to everybody, when I ran right into a sharp stick I hissed in pain, jumping back to see what injured me. I saw Carmen with a towel wrapped tightly around her small frame, beads of water dripping down her soaked hair, standing there wide eyed with a sniper pointed right at me.
"Oh my gosh! I am soo sorry, I heard a growl like a animal, and I reacted out of instinct" She ranted
"Carmen" I said
"I didn't mean it it's not like I just came out of the shower and decided to shoot you" She kept rambling and didn't hear me.
I pinched the bridge of my nose and sighed heavily. "Carmen" I said sternly, but once again she didn't hear my call for her to stop talking. "CARMEN" I yelled while grabbing onto her shoulder shaking her causing her to stop rambling. "It's okay! You didn't mean it that's fine, now hurry up and getcho your small self dressed and let's go to school!" She looked at me and dropped her gun, pulling me in for a hug breathing out a shaky breath she pulled out of the hug.
"I'm sorry I thought I hurt you I was jus- wait why don't you have a cut or scratch, you look perfectly fine!" She exclaimed grabbing on to my shoulders and inspected my chest, I looked down to see her head right in my chest.
"HEY" I pushed her head off, putting my hands over my cleavage. "That's enough, now SCRAM!" She gave me an uneasy look before picking up her sniper, and scrambling to her room. Happy that I got her off my case I sat down beside Frank's door on the floor, to think about what happened this morning. That growl, could not have come out of my mouth it's just not possible. And why didn't I have a cut when Carmen jabbed me in the chest earlier, I'm just thinking too much I'll ask Frank about this later. My mind drifted to yesterday it seems that Darwin goes to the same school as me, so he thinks were kinda like friends.
All my friends either get mad at me too many times and leave or give up at trying to make me kinder. Either way I have enough friends for a lifetime, I'm content. He also said yesterday when he walked me back home (I told him not to) that he knows everybody in that school and has lots of connections, so imma make him stick around for a while. When Frank wakes up (if he does) we will he will tell us who gets to protect who, I really don't know why he needs all of us to protect these two kids.
All I know from the meetings is that we will be protecting a 12 year old girl named London, I pulled my bag on my lap and pulled out of photo of a girl and held it out in front of me. At the bottom of the photo it said London, Hetler my eyes traveled up to the picture of the girl. She had chestnut short hair, it seems as if she cut her hair into a pixie style, she has freckles on both of her cheeks, she has a nose ring and her lips are very plump. She has an hour-glass figure, she looks like the smaller version of a Victoria Secret model, she better not be some popular chick.
I sighed and put the picture back in my bag, then pulled the other picture of the boy and held it out in front of me, just like I did with the other picture. I shrieked when I looked at the picture, it was HIM! My bestest friend ever from Italy we had so much fun together, until Frank said we had to do another mission then I had to leave. He looks just as I remember him, those two stupid lip rings, the mohawk, the eyeliner he always uses the eyeliner. He is such a nerd, but nobody knows that but me, I remember back in Italy, we would get up and climb on his roof and read and talk until the sun came up.
I sighed a content sigh, I put the picture back in my bag and zipped it up. I was sitting on the reminiscing about all my experiences in Italy with him, he was the only one Frank trusted enough to tell him about us. And since that day he has been my best friend, as I went through more memories something popped up in my brain.
Why are we protecting him?!?!
