Richie Tozier is awakened by his roommate, Beverly Marsh. He gets a pair of jeans and his work shirt thrown at him whilst trying to find his glasses.
"What the hell Bev!" Richie groans as he picks up the clothes that were just tossed at him.
"Sorry but it's 12:17! Hurry up you overslept you dummy" Beverly says.
She's fixing her bed as she says that, along with gathering her things and fixing her hair into the tiniest bun since her hair is short.
Richie rolls his eyes and walks toward the small restroom to change.
Him and Beverly had just gotten a new job at Lizzie's Roller Rink/Restaurant two weeks ago and everything has been going smooth. Richie or Bev haven't been late to a shift. Well—until now.
Richie was hired as a waiter, since he had a good social interaction with people and Beverly didnt really. She on the other hand was hired as a cook, since Richie always adored her cooking skills since they met.
The two had been late for work that afternoon. Richie had woken up at 12:17 when they were supposed to be in at 12.
So they gathered their things sloppily into their bags and Richie pulled colorful wheels into his sight and grabbed the pair of roller skates swiftly and ran out the door to his bike.
Him and Beverly had pulled up their bikes and cycled down to their job that they should've been at 30 minutes ago.
They made it to the busy place in about 4 minutes, since the apartment that they both shared was close to it.
They hop off their bikes and lay them in the bike racks.
Richie had been friends with Bev since the 8th grade so moving in with her wasn't much of a surprise. But when Richie told his parents he was gonna move in with her, they for sure thought they were dating. But that wasn't the case at all because Richie thought of Bev as a sister, not some girl he would date.
Plus, he wasn't playing for that team at all anymore, but the only one who knew that was Beverly. The same Beverly who would clean the chocolate frosting off his face like a mother after he stuffed his mouth full of chocolate cupcakes. And the same Beverly who would bonk his head after he said something outrageous. And the same Beverly that he loved with all his heart.
Even though he'd never admit that to her face, he knows in his heart he does.
They push open the door and start getting prepared for their shifts.
"What the hell you two! I've been waiting for you guys for 30 minutes now!" Stanley Uris, their co-worker, complains into their ears. Stanley is neat and clean, which explains his nicely combed hair and his perfectly tucked in shirt.
"Sorry Stanny, but Richie was just getting up at like 12:10 so" Beverly says shrugging, while tying her apron around her waist, making sure it's secure.
"What! You were just getting up too what are you talking about red?" Richie interjects. Once he had said that Beverly was already gone into the kitchen. Richie scoffs and flares out his arms.
"Richie, can you just do your job and wait tables please..?" Stanley pleads. He's gathering his things and slipping off his roller skates.
Richie nods but rolls his eyes at the perfect curls that sit on top of the Jews head, despite working all morning.
But before Stan can slip out the door he says something to Richie as he was tying on his skates.
"Oh and there's two people that I kind of left hanging since you two got here. And warning, the kid is probably gonna bust if you don't get there and take their orders in about two seconds" Stanley says, his eyes leaving Richie's to glance at the boy he was talking about.
