✮ ༄ 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒 ༄✮ ACT II CHAPTER 16 ( no cameras caught my muffled cries )
THE PANEM ANTHEM MADE EVELYN'S EYES SHOOT OPEN. The first thing she saw was Finnick smiling down at her, making her grin back. Her eyes slowly averted away from him and focused on the projections in the sky.
One from five, both from six, one from eight, both from nine, one from ten, and finally, one from eleven. Evelyn frowned, she had killed three of them.
"Eight." Katniss confirmed the amount of tributes.
Finnick hummed in response before directing his attention to Eve. He lovingly looked at her for a few more seconds until a chiming sound echoed throughout everyone's ears.
A metal container landed by the end of Katniss' feet. She rushingly grabbed it and lifted the latch. The District Four partners eagerly stood up and examined a silver object in the box.
The Girl on Fire lifted a note, "Drink up?" she dropped the slip and replaced it with something Evelyn thought was weird looking.
"What is it?" She asked as Katniss turned the sort of alloy around.
"It's from Haymitch. I think it's a spile." Katniss got up from her crouched position, leaving a questionable Finnick and Evelyn.
"A what?" Finnick confusingly asked.
"What's a spile?" Evelyn followed up on his question. She's never seen one before, neither has he.
Katniss picked up a large rock and carefully hit the spile into a thin tree. Luckily, it didn't break in the process. Once it was fully in, Eve awoke Peeta and hurried over. The three waited behind Katniss, intrigued on what it'll do.
Suddenly, a gasp of relief fell from the girl's mouth as water trickled out the spile and down Katniss' throat. Evelyn chuckled and shared a smile with Finnick who was extremely happy.
They finally had water after a day of feeling parched.
Once Katniss finished taking big gulps, Peeta had his turn. Finnick let Evelyn go next which she then kneeled under the spilling water and let it drizzle inside her mouth. Already refreshed, she cupped some of the liquid in her hands and splashed it over her slightly bloody face.
After Finnick drank some water, everyone got refills before closing the end of the spile with a small pebble so no more water would fall out. Everyone laid back down again for a good nights sleep, but then a booming noise sounded in the arena. A sound none of them has ever heard.
Evelyn furrowed her brows while hearing a crackling rumble as a lighting bolt struck an oddly shaped tree in the distance. The same amount of times the noise went off.
"That looks frightening." She joked, causing Finnick to lowly chuckle.
