I didn't sit on a wall and hope to fall, I sat in your arms while I broke apart. You said you were sorry, and that you were through with all of the yelling of what I shouldn't do. But one more mistake and that promise would break, along with the hopes of some new fate. You can skip if you want- it gives background 💗acc you probs don't want to
I wake to the sound of a key turn and the ringing of a bell . I quickly sit up, frantically gathering my things. I don't realize where I am until I hear the knock on the door.
My father would never knock. He would slide in when he wanted, taking the self worth I had left with him on his sneak out..
I am not there anymore, I remind myself ; I am finally free.
"Come in" I respond
"I brought you tea."He says as he slightly opens the door and sticks his aged hand through, holding a warm cup of tea.
The smell fills the small room with a dark but sweet aroma, reminding me of the Monday mornings before school.
"You didn't have to sir. I will be getting out of your hair as soon as possible." I take the cup from his hand and widen the door, seeing an abnormally cheerful man.
"It is only customary." He says this as he lifts his coat and scarf off, placing them on the nearby rack.
"And you are not a bother, this room has needed some life for a while. " he continues as he walks to the front door and flips the small open sign.I begin to pack my bags, planning to spend my day in search of a hotel. As I pack, the man sits at the desk beside the couch I slept on. He soon walks beside the door and stops, turning to face me.
"Where did you get your clothes?" He believes my clothing looks disheveled and worn, a machine could not ponder the wretched design of my clothes.
"They appear to be hand crafted.. Magnificent talent. I quite enjoy the technique in the pleats on this boddice." He picks up one of my shirts and examines it.
"Is your mother a seamstress?" he asks
" I made them."
" You should show me your work someday, I could take job hunting off of your hands."he replies with a slight incline of excitement in his voice,it is evident that he has been needing a new employee.
" I would love to, sir, but I will need to find a living space first ." I stand in front of the door, facing him, bag in hand. "I am forever grateful for your hospitality, I have to leave.. Thank you" I say this as I turn around and start my way to the door. The bell to the front door rings as I open it, feeling the air on my skin, terrified of the future.I walk out of the store with a wave, bracing myself for the outside world. As I slowly walk away from the small building, I hear the dinging of a bell.
"Wait! You don't have to leave. I couldn't let a delightful girl like you search for a shoddy hotel room, stay here. Work here, I can train you if need be, please, don't leave this on my conscience.." My worries begin to shake away with one breath of this dear man.
"Please, I need your help around here. You would be doing me a favor."
" I'm not sure.. I need to be out on my own for once.." I reply. I could use the help as well but my conscience screams that I've overstayed my welcome."'You are a pestilence to this house. That was the least you could do to help." father said after he had finished with me. It was late, late enough where if i didn't sleep then, i wouldn't be able to stay awake the next morning, he still woke me anyway. It had been a couple of months since my sister's passing, the scars were still fresh, mentally. At the time, as well as today, I would've traded my entire existence for hers to live on, but I wasn't given that choice. In a way, we did trade, she traded her life for mine, little did she know I would suffer the same fate in life that she did.
The dark bedroom fades away with a blink, leaving me in front of the kind old man.
"Oh, well the offer is always open.. What's your name?"
"Deirdre Doherty"
"Nicolò Evangelisti" He shakes my hand and I walk away, trying not to think of my blurted memories.I told you to skip.. did you like it anyway? BAE it's literally almost there just a little bit longer 💗 ur a real one 🤞I LOVE NICOLO SO MUCHH
