Because the last two chapters were shorter, you can have this one too, I suppose.
It had been several years now. Almost 4, to be exact. Y/n was now 17. She was still alone. She had finally made a friend after so long, and taught him how to cook, taught him how to care for himself, just for him to be killed trying to hurt one of the robed men. Maybe he had gone insane.
That was a few months ago.
But it's not like Y/n wasn't used to being alone. If she was alone, she couldn't be hurt.
Although, it did hurt. She wanted someone to hug. She wanted someone to spill all her troubles to. She wanted someone to whisper her name. Someone to keep her warm at night.
A beep in her apartment alerted her it was time to go be a lamb, and let the vampires take her blood. Y/n sighed, before getting up and leaving out into the cold air outside. She walked down the dark and dirty alleys towards the large building where kids got their blood taken.
Y/n was unlucky, or lucky, enough to be one of the first to go in. In fact, she was number 2 in line. She blatantly stated her name, and the robed man looked her down for a while for the first time. He marked something different on his notepad, before saying Y/n was cleared, and could proceed.
Y/n walked the few more hundred feet to the large open doors. That was before something weird happened though.
As soon as Y/n made it to the doors a second robed man dragged Y/n away by her arm. He dragged Y/n all the way to another, much smaller door in the corner of the room that lead outside. He dragged Y/n around quickly behind him for several minutes, until they reached a giant mansion that looked a lot more like a castle than anything else.
And then the robed man lead Y/n into the giant mansion.
Y/n was tossed into a fancy room at the mansion. The room had couches of different variety, but one thing was for sure, they were all very expensive. There was a fireplace on one side of the room that was lit, crackling away.
Y/n quickly turned around after a quick scan of the room, watching as the robed man closed the door behind them.
"My, my," A voice behind Y/n made her jump. She hadn't realized someone else was in the room, and she certainly had never heard that voice before.
"They honestly shouldn't be so rough with children," Y/n looked to see a man with long, cloudy and silvery hair that was tied in a ponytail with a decent sized shadow grey colored bow. He wore fancy clothes, all of them a light color with accents of greys, golds, and reds. He had tall, knee-high charcoal-colored boots. It wasn't hard to tell he was pretty high ranking.
"Well, well, if it isn't the teenager whose blood is still quite like sugar," he said, sickly sweet, "It's pretty rare to have sweet blood after the age of thirteen... What's your name, little lamb?"
Y/n stared at him for a second, "Uh... Y/n," Y/n spoke slowly, almost forgetting her own name in this godlike presence.
The noble hummed a chuckle, "My name is Ferid Bathory. You may either refer to me as lord Ferid or lord Bathory."
"Ah..."
The new male, Ferid, frowned slightly before his evil-ish smile returned. He walked over to stand in front of Y/n, reaching his hand out to stroke Y/n's cheek.
Y/n was embarrassed that she did it, but her body reacted before her mind could.
Without a second thought, Y/n leaned her head into the vampire's touch, accidentally making Ferid cup the girl's cheek in almost a kind embrace. Only Y/n knew it wasn't intentional from Ferid. Even if it was just for a second, Y/n closed her eyes, savoring the comforting physical contact.
Bathory's scarlet eyes widened, before returning to normal. When a frown appeared on his lips again, it held for much longer this time.
Why wasn't this girl scared of him?
Why did she feel comfortable like this?
He almost couldn't help it as he rubbed his gloved thumb against Y/n's cheek.
But then Ferid remembered, all those years ago, when he was human. When he was Y/n's age. He at one point craved physical contact too.
Ferid hummed, for once not sure what to do, but he was sure that he'd come up with a plan later.
It had been several days to Y/n's first introduction to Ferid Bathory. Today she was headed back to the lord's mansion. Apparently, Y/n's presence had been requested by the silver haired noble.
It did weird out Y/n a bit, but she didn't mind. Getting this personal attention was nice, even if it wasn't anything meaningful to Ferid. Y/n liked it. She needed it.
And Ferid, taking this into account, knew he could use this information. He had called Y/n back to his mansion to talk... and a little bit more.
Y/n made it to the giant mansion, entering again from the side door, before going back to the same room as before. She slowly opened the door and peaked in to see Ferid sitting on a couch, facing the fireplace.
Ferid's sharp, pointy ears twitched slightly as the door creaked when Y/n peeped in. He didn't even need to see Y/n, he knew the girl was there.
"Well," the vampire started with a lesser, but slightly exasperated tone, "Are you going to come in? You can't stand there forever hiding behind the door."
Y/n's eyes widened in surprise for a split second. She pushed the door the rest of the way open before stepping into the room and slowly closing it behind her. Then, she walked over to stand next to the couch, not really sure where her place was.
Ferid patted the empty spot on the couch next to him, "Well? Sit down," he smiled.
Y/n did as told. She sat down next to the lord, not more than a few inches of space between them.
Ferid observed Y/n for a little bit while Y/n just distracted herself with the fire, "You're so quiet," he pointed out.
"Is there something you want me to say?" Y/n asked softly, looking at the silver-haired vampire from the side of her eyes for a split second before going back to the fire.
"I suppose not," Ferid sighed, leaning back and closing his eyes, "But I would have guessed at your age you would have been so much more social," he spoke his thoughts as he took an ungloved hand and ran it through Y/n's soft, h/c colored hair, gently pulling out a few stray knots here and there.
Y/n hummed to Ferid's words, closing her own eyes and relaxing into the older male's touch.
"I didn't have anyone to be social with for a long time..." Y/n admitted.
"How long is a long time?"
Y/n had to think about it for a little while, "Around seven years, I guess."
"That is a long time to be alone. So, why were you alone?" Ferid asked, genuinely curious, but also merely drawing information from Y/n, learning the girl's weak points and strong suits.
"...My parents always worked, and I didn't have many friends in real life. I had a few online, but you can never tell if they are real or fake," Y/n paused, thinking about how she was taken, making her tense up a bit under Ferid's touch and clench her fists tightly.
"I don't have any friends here. Not anymore."
Word count is 1256 words.
