CHAPTER TWELVE OF ??

❝ the one with the doctor who references  ❞

THIRD-PERSON POV. THE JANUARY OF 2005, AMBROSE, LOUISIANA.

THE WALK TO THE GAS STATION FROM THE HOUSE OF WAX WAS QUICK. Like, extremely quick. Ambrose was a quaint, diamond-in-the-rough sort of town. It was isolated and perfect to settle down in for family life or a place to get away from society. Yet, it had sinister undertones to a dark and twisted secret. Before (Name) knew it, the three of them were in the gas station.

Wade and Carly were looking around in the back room of the gas station, which was silent and empty, as Wade pilfered through the fan belts, eagerly and desperately looking for a fifteen-inch fan belt. (Name) muttered the lyrics to "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-a-lot, tragically missing her iPod, leaning against the door frame as she stuck in the front room.

"I think there are many, many laws against this type of thing," (Name) mentioned casually, as she caught Carly and Wade's attention, "What? We've just walked into a store when nobody else was in here, not even Bo, a.k.a the owner? Not to mention you guys technically breaking into the House of Wax and me just being me,".

"What?" Wade said, trying to defend their actions, "The door was unlocked and he said he was gonna be half an hour and he's been forty-five minutes, (Name)! I'm sure he won't mind". (Name) scoffs and rolls her eyes, "Jesus tap-dancing Christ, Wade," (Name) scowled, "He was having a funeral for shit's sake. You can't rush that shit. I mean, at my Uncle Paul's funeral he had the Doctor Who theme tune from the Fifth Doctor's series playing and I thought he was gonna pop outta the coffin and regenerate and everything. I'm so pumped that Doctor Who's coming back in March. Can't freaking wait,".

Carly deadpanned. "Haven't you already planned your funeral?" Carly asked, as Wade looked very concerned at (Name), who casually nodded and looked at her nails, picking the polish off, "You're so morbid, (Name). Please get therapy- Nevermind, you already do get therapy,".

"When I die, it's gonna be a closed casket funeral and then they're gonna open the casket and I'm not gonna be inside. Then, the ceiling fans will turn on and my lifeless body with fly around the room with the Doctor Who theme tune, specifically the Fifth or Sixth Doctor's theme tune, in the background. When I'm like all buried and shit, I'm gonna have motion sensors around my grave so that whenever someone comes an inch near my grave, Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley, really loud,".

Carly raised an eyebrow. "In like, what, two years," (Name) predicted, "That's gonna be so funny. I swear to God. 2007 will have the Rick Astley song as a meme, it'll be so funny, I swear to God,". Wade and Carly discussed how things would have been different if Nick and Dalton didn't have to come with them, then would've all fit in Blake's SUV and they would never have gone to Ambrose in a slightly different parallel universe.

(Name) looked out the gas station windows to see how the sun was already setting and the clouds had a pinkish tinge to them. Winter sucked, as it got darker sooner as (Name) bundled her denim jacket around her. "He's got everything but a fifteen-inch," Wade huffed, looking at all the fan belts on display, reaching forward for a sixteen-inch, "I'll just have to use a sixteen-inch. Make it work somehow,".

"You plan on stealin' that?". (Name) jumped out of her skin as she turned to find Bo standing behind her, leaning against the outer doorframe with one leg crossed over the other. Carly and Wade noticed too. "Sorry, about scarin' you, darlin'," Bo apologised, with a somewhat flirtatious smile at the young woman. It took every single cell in (Name)'s body not to fold at the flirty nature of the Southern man before her.

"Oh, that's fine," (Name) said, with an awkward laugh to her tone of voice and a slight chuckle, as she looked at Bo, "Wouldn't mind if you scared me,". (Name) internally cringed at her attempt at flirting too, but Bo seemed to like it, "We didn't know how much longer you were gonna be and didn't want to interrupt...again,". As (Name) said that last word, she glanced at Carly and Wade before looking back to Bo.

"I left you some money on the counter," Wade says, as he jabs the hand holding the fan belt to the money that had been left on the counter, a fifty dollar bill, as Bo glanced to the counter then back to (Name), "But, you don't really have the right size. You don't have any fifteen inches,". (Name) bit back a laugh as her dirty mind kicked in.

"I do at the house," Bo mentioned. Bo was hot, that's what (Name) thought. Very, very hot. (Name) looked at the older man, as she gathered that Bo was in his early-to-mid thirties if she had to guess, probably 34 or 35 from an estimated guess. But it didn't matter, Bo was hot and (Name)'s type.

"Look, I hope you're not getting the wrong idea," (Name) says to Bo, "That we're in here. I mean, I did tell them not to go and to wait outside like a normal person would do,". She slips into the front room with Bo walking by her side. Bo let out a brief laugh and smiled briefly at (Name). "Nah, that's okay, darlin'," Bo reassured, as he swiped the fifty dollar bill from the counter, which was near an ashtray, and stuffed it into his suit pocket.

Wade frowned as Bo took the money from the counter, "Does that cover it?" Wade asked. Bo looked over at Wade, who was a good two inches taller than him. Wade Felton was a tall drink of water, as once described by (Name). "It's close enough," Bo said, putting his hands on his hips as (Name)'s eyes widened at the action, "Why don't we head up to the house and get the one you need anyway? It's only a couple blocks,".

"Yeah, sure," (Name) shrugged, with an amused smirk on her lips, stuffing her hands into her pockets, "Let's go,". Wade stopped (Name) in her tracks. "You keep fan belts at your house?" Wade queried, as (Name) twitched her nose and mouth as Bo, (Name) and Carly looked at Wade.

"Oh, I get things delivered there when I'm not here," Bo explains, as (Name) let out a silent "ah" and slowly nodded, as she folded her arms, "Look, if you wanna hold onto the sixteen, that's fine by me,".

(Name) stepped in as Carly stood on her flip phone, texting Paige casually about the expansion of (Name)'s fan club of admirers, feeding the juicy gossip to their friends. "No, no, no," (Name) reassured, as she looked at Bo, "It's okay, let's go,". Bo opened the gas station door for (Name) as she thanked him and walked out as Carly and Wade followed. Bo shut the door as he stuck by (Name).
