After Alicent was removed from Otto's office they were informed that the king had died. In his sleep. Daenerys's mother had broken down on the ground. She knew what her mother was thinking. Well half of it. She didn't have time to make up for lost time.
Daenerys had been crying as well, but she tried to be strong for her husband and kids. When Daenerys and Aegon had to tell the kids, it was hard as they had grown to love their time with their great grandsire.
Daenerys had broken down crying and went straight to her mother. He mother was now queen and that would mean that Daenerys had to be there for her as her heir.
Daenerys nocked on her parent's chambers; she heard her mother speak a soft 'come in.' She opened the door slowly and saw her mother sitting on her bed crying, Daenerys rushed over to her mother and brought her into a hug. They both broke down crying.
When they broke the hug Rhaenyra smiled at her daughter. "I'm sorry for everything, for leaving you behind, not giving you guidance. And I'm sorry I wasn't the mother I was meant to be to you."
