River has convinced my old friends to let me sit with them at lunch time so that I can be with her. I hate the cruel looks that shoot at me every time I see their faces. They also give Rick nasty looks solely because he's associated with me, which is completely unfair; I mean, he's the new guy! Why can't people just give him a break? It's so stupid. This impulse drives me to tell these kids, "Wipe that nasty- ass look off your face before I do!" but I keep silent or else River will spaz. Fortunately, Rick does the same because I asked him too; otherwise he would tell everyone off without thinking because he don't give a damn what people think of him, and frankly neither do I.
However, one day Rick joins into a conversation. "Nobody asked your opinion," Kaili vents.
"Shut it, girl," Rick retorts. "Talk like that and you'll never get laid."
"Don't talk to my girl like that!" Harley growls.
"Or what?"
"Or I'll beat the shit out of you!"
"Well, then I'll have George break your phone."
Panic erupts in my system. "Man, don't bring me into this."
Harley stands up and lashes out, but Rick darts away.
"Look, if you're gonna give us hell, then leave," Charlie snarls at me.
"It's not me. It's him!" I shout, feeling cluttered with frustration. Why can't Rick just behave?
"He's your friend," Harley cuts in. "Keep him under control or I'll beat the hell out of both of you."
I'm about to retort, but River looks at me and shakes her head; she looks extremely upset.
Later that day, she finds me and says, "We need to talk."
That evening we walk through the junk yard together with a peaceful winter breeze brushing against us.
River breaks in, "Look, no offense, but you need to keep your friend under control."
"I know. I'm sorry. I'll talk to him." Ugh, why did Rick have to provoke everyone today? I deal with enough problems already.
"I love you, but we have to make this work," River states. "I need a balace between you and my friends, and I don't wanna end my friendships because of you or Rick. I just need you guys to behave..."
Something in the background draws my attention. A black cloak lingers not far behind River with nothing but darkness beneath its hood. My eyes dialate with angst. I try to keep calm and breathe. These creatures have never been so close or looked sooo real. My blood starts to rush rapidly beneath my skin. I'm having trouble keeping my food down.
"George. George!" River's voice seems so distant. "George, look at me!"
I force myself to stare into her eyes.
"George were you listening to anything I was saying?" River sounds flustered.
"Y- y- yeeeah, honey," I stutter.
Oh shit. The creature is moving toward me, and now it's right behind River! Cold sweat drips down my forehead.
"George, what did I say? George!"
The creature charges at me. I can't hold myself together any longer! I shoot away in complete abomination.
"George!" River calls after me.
But I ignore her and run.
Later that night, I lay in bed sulking with tears streaming down my face. I can't take it anymore! I can't take it! My problems have ruined my relationship. I lost my friends. Now I probably lost my girlfriend, too. It's so overwhelming. I just wish this would all come to an end!
