Their smell was stronger now. I must have been close. I circled around to the entrance of the cave in front of me. As I approached, the smell of fear and dominance swept over me. I cautiously walked to the entrance, making sure I did not disturb anything. I peered inside. It was really dark, but I could smell her. I stumbled into a large room. It was dimly lit, and covered in pink.
“A-a-art…” A voice cried.
I turned my head. The only sound I could bear to make was a small whimper. Red sat on the ground, her wrists bound to the wall behind her. Blood surrounded her. Red cuts that looked fresh trailed around her body. I padded up to her, my footfalls barely heard, my brain barely registering any thought. I licked her wounds, cleaning the blood off of her. It was only when my tongue reached a bumpy, rough patch that I stopped to look.
The bright red stood out against Red’s pale skin. The letters were easy to read. Burned into her skin, with what looked like branding iron, were the letters K-I-T-A. A low growl rose in my throat, but I suppressed it. Instead, I ripped the chain binding her to the wall with my teeth. She fell forward, clinging to my fur. She was weak. I sat down, allowing her to climb onto my back. She needed something to eat, and drink.
“Just hang in there.” I whispered.
I headed for the doorway, ready to leave this putrid place behind, but the doorway was blocked by a slender figure.
“Glad to see you Artemis.” Kita purred. “I hope you don’t mind, but I amused myself with your toy.”
My lip curled and I bared my teeth. “Move. Now.” I growled.
She only gave a small laugh. “Why?” She asked.
I was losing my patience. If I had to kill her, I would. I tried to avoid it though. I wouldn’t put Red in danger like that. I let out a low growl, and warned her to back off. True to her nature, she did not. I laid Red on the ground gently. Then, I turned sharply and pounced onto Kita. I raked my claws through her flesh, and her warm blood flowed over my claws. She raked my side, but I felt nothing.
I sunk my teeth into the side of her neck, and she let out an ear-piercing howl. It didn’t stop me. I sunk them in deeper, making her whimper. The taste and smell of blood was overwhelming. Fear also touched my nose, but it was faint. Soon the warmth of blood covered my entire face. I withdrew my fangs, leaving the fatally wounded Kita to die. She went to say something, but as soon as she opened her mouth, blood came out.
“That is what you get, you fucking bitch.” I cried.
Soon I was picking Red up again, ready to carry her home. As I walked through the moon lit forest, I could slightly hear a small voice singing by my ear. At least she was conscious. I laid her down on the couch in my home, and started cooking some meat for her. As I tended the meat, out of the corner of my eye I saw something move. I turned to see what it was. Red was pulling a piece of raw meat from the carcass beside her.
I took the meat I was cooking out of the fire and grabbed some water for us. Hopefully food and drink would help her. I sat down next to her, and helped her eat. Blood smeared across her face from eating the meat raw, but she was still so innocent. She leaned over and planted a kiss on my own blood stained mouth.
“Thank you for rescuing me.” She whispered, her bright eyes looking up into my own.
“No problem.” I replied. “She's gone now..."
