SYNOPSIS!
AMBROSE DELEYNE WAS THE FIRST SHIELD AGENT THAT STEVE ROGERS TALKED TO.
Steve had just come from the ice and was immediately thrust into battle. He was definitely nervous, what with aliens trying to take off his head. The Avengers didn't consider themselves a team just yet. They were coworkers, a messily formed group of acquaintances who only wanted to see the Chitauri lose. Ambrose was - and is - the first person Steve can consider a friend. Steve is sixty-four years Ambrose's senior, but that doesn't matter. Steve needs a friend, and Ambrose is there.
Ambrose Deleyne is not a friendly man. Life has not been kind to him, and poverty was his best friend as a child. The army was his saving grace, and Steve relates to this heavily. They're two war-torn soldiers, so it makes sense for them to become close.
It all started on a recon mission.
Steve and Ambrose were tasked with staking out a Hydra base. The goal was to monitor the amount of people entered and exited the base, to see how active it really was. The mission lasted for a little over a week. Ambrose and Steve had only each other. Both of them were nervous, but for different reasons. Ambrose was concerned with Steve's ability to be an agent. The man is a soldier, this rings true, but being an agent is very different compared to running into a battle.
