"Remember, stay away from the water! It is kinda rough today." Zuma yelled after Alex, as huge waves crashed down at the shore. Today was a beautiful summer day and many citizens were relaxing at the beach. Zuma, Chase and Rubble were patrolling on the beach as lifeguards, while Ryder, Marshall, Skye and Rockey watched over the waves. They constantly controlled the height of the waves, their speed and the saline which could be swept into the beach. "Katie! I just told Alex not to go into the water, so what are you doing?!" Zuma ran over to Katie, who carried a basket with her. "I am just combing the beach for seashells." "Okay, but no getting into the water. The waves could easily pull you out to sea and drown you." "I know." Zuma nodded and let Katie do her thing, when he got a call from Ryder.
"Zuma, I need you to leave your position. Skye will take over, so come here as fast as you can." "Roger that Ryder sir." He said and sprinted to the sea patroller garage. "What's going on here?" "One of our underwater drones sank somewhere in the ocean." "I'll go and get it." "Here is the thing Zuma, it is out of reach. We are not able to track it nor will we be able to track you." "That is fine with me. I'll go and get our drone back." And with that, Zuma ran to his vehicle and drove it out on the water.
The waves made it difficult to find a spot deep enough but once Zuma had found it, he let his boat turn into a submarine and dove down. His eyes sparkled with amazement, as he was finally able to see the oceans bottom again. Ryder had sent him the location where the drone had sent its last signal. The drone was quickly found and Zuma picked it up with a gripper arm. "There we go. Now let's get back to Ryder." The little puppy said to himself and turned his submarine around, when a peeping noise interrupted the silence. A red lamp started to glow and Zuma felt something wet on his paws. "Oh hell no! I gotta get out of here."
He managed to get the drone out of its box and strapped onto his back. Now he just had to get out, as his submarine filled up with water pretty quickly. "Come on, open up!" The salty liquid already reached his tummy as Zuma banged on the glass with all of his strength. "Come on, come on! Shatter!" he begged, the water started to rise faster, leaving Zuma with only little space to breathe. "I don't wanna drown... ruff! MASK!" Like that, Zuma would be able to breathe and see in the salty ocean water and he had more time to try and escape. Eventually, Zuma got exhausted from banging on the glass. He felt how his eyes grew heavy. His body wanted to rest but Zuma knew he couldn't. Not yet, not like this. If he could only stay awake a little longer...
You were strolling through the ocean, when some thuds caught your attention. Curious what it was, you followed the direction of the noise. You slowly realized that there was someone or something who might be in trouble and you heard from your bestie, that there are sometimes humans or other creatures who get trapped underwater. Your suspicions proofed right when you found something orange on the bottom of the ocean. A brown puppy seemed to be stuck inside and judging by the thing over his mouth, he wasn't a merpup. You reacted quickly, slamming your f/c fishtail against the glass, making it shatter. You gently pulled the pup out of the weird orange thing and sped back to your cave.
He didn't have a fishtail, so you pushed him onto a rock in the cave. The thing over his mouth vanished and you splashed some water into his face. "Hey! Wake up!" The dark brown puppy slowly opened his olive green eyes, he sat straight up as he realized he wasn't in his submarine anymore. "Thank goodness, you are not dead." "Who are you?" "Y/n. And you?" "Zuma. Did you bring me here?" "Of course. I was strolling around and heard thuds." Zuma lay down again, his olive green eyes locked with your e/c of a few seconds. "Thank you. I probably would have died with out you." "Definitely. You don't look like a merpup though..." "I am not. I am a chocolate Labrador Retriever. That reminds me, I gotta go back to the others!" "What do you mean?" You asked, pulling yourself out of the water, to lay next to Zuma.
"I have to go back to Adventure Bay... all of my friends are there and they are probably worried." You turned your f/c fishtail to admire its colors, while you thought about what Zuma said. "I'll bring you there. I sometimes swim with the younger puppies, so I am an expert in smooth swimming." "Okay." "You just have to lead the direction." "That is no problem. If you bring me back to my submarine, I'll find the way home. Though it is pretty far from shore..." "What's a submarine?" this pup peaked your interest to it's fullest. "The orange thing you pulled me out." "Oh! Yeah sure, no problem." You slid back into the water and Zuma followed. He held on to your back, as you dove down and swam back into the open sea. Your heads broke through the surface and Zuma gasped for air. "Are you okay?" "Y-Yeah, I forgot to put on my mask." "Your what?" "Something that helps me breathe underwater. Ruff! Mask!" Zuma said and gave you a nod and you dove down again.
You swam all the way to the... submarine. Zuma let go of your back and inspected the orange junk of metal, until he pointed into a direction. You nodded and turned into the direction he pointed to. Once he climbed back on your back, you started to swim into this direction. Your ears picked up noises from waves crashing on rocks, so you swam up to the surface again. "Thank Y/n. If you let me, I'll get out over there. No one needs to know of your existence." "Sure." You said, letting Zuma leave. "If you ever need my help, just splash like this." You splashed around with your fishtail in a simple pattern before continuing what you wanted to say. "I'll hear it and come to you." "Thanks! You helped me so much Y/n" "I have to go now. Bye!" You said, diving back into the water. "Bye!" Zuma smiled and turned to go to the sea patroller garage. There was something about you, which made his cheeks feel warm. The drone on his back, Zuma made his way inside to Ryder and the others. "Zuma! Are you okay?!" "I am, but my boat is not..." He said, knowing that this was going to turn into a very long lecture from Ryder.
