~ 13 YEARS LATER ~

ITALY, POVEGLIANO VERONESE

MONDAY, 7:00 AM

Many years had passed since those terrible events; we were in the country where Eye Of Earth owned their headquarters. It was a quiet town, friendly in some respects, almost boring since hardly anything striking happened except for constant flyovers by the helicopters of the Heroic League. The sun's rays illuminated the town that had to prepare for a new day, who had to go to work, who had to look after their children, who had to go to school. But if we centered ourselves in an even quieter neighborhood we could meet our protagonist, a sixteen year old boy who slept peacefully in his own bed wrapped in warm blankets, he was so immersed in sleep that he snored peacefully! His room was small in size, once one entered, the person could see that the bed was in the center of everything, with the side of the pillow directed toward the dark blue colored wall in the wall to the left of the bed, or to the right if the person was standing in the white doorway with some veins, there were hazel colored cabinets and on one door was a mirror attached. Then to the right of the bed was a window with red curtains, where he could observe the neighborhood or in case insult them, opposite the bed or to the left of the person standing in the doorway was a light hazel colored desk where there were books, a computer, a seedling, and a silver lamp. Also next to the door on the wall where the desk was located was attached a coat rack that the boy used for one thing, a pendant with a metal star. On the window wall was even attached a poster of his favorite movie, Jurassic Park. Next to the bed he had a small nightstand, one on each side, where he could place his cell phone, headphones or anything useful. On the red porcelain tile floor, exactly also under the bed, was a round blue and light blue carpet, and on the ceiling hung a chandelier. But all of a sudden the annoying and unbearable sound of the alarm clock went crazy on the nightstand at the right side of the bed. The boy slowly moved between the blankets that were blocking and entwining him as he moaned with noises while trying to reach out to throttle the alarm clock and turn it off. Once he managed to get it, after fighting with the blankets, he turned it off and flipped it over on the nightstand. With no will to live, he sat on the bed and looked around as he rubbed his tired, sleep blurred eyes. He breathed deeply, looked out the window as the Sun's rays blinded him thus forcing him to cover his face, then removed the covers and sat at the edge of the bed bending forward. After staring into space, thinking about what he had to do that day, he finally got up to settle down. He went to the bathroom, brushed his teeth, his face, combed his hair and slapped himself a few times to wake himself up. That done, he got dressed in what he found first in the closet without giving it much thought. Our boy named Loris Rossini was sixteen years old and was tall, thin, with gray mixed blue eyes, brown hair with a high topknot and particularly wavy with a diamond shaped face. A careful, timid, fearful, but intelligent, brave, and loyal schoolboy, Loris proved to be a true example to all his acquaintances. The only defect was his sensitivity, with the fear that one day he might be abandoned or seen as a threat. He attended a high school outside the city, exactly in Villafranca di Verona, called "Carlo Anti" where he studied computer science. In that school you could choose to study technical, scientific, business or artistic subjects. He was in the third year of his school career and was very fond of his classmates as he found them united and unique. They did not blame each other, they were quiet, organized, fun and loyal, especially that one. It was loyalty and team spirit that kept them together. In the meantime, Loris got dressed in a red black plaid shirt of soft fabric, blue jeans, and black sneakers. As he changed, his cell phone placed on the nightstand next to the bed vibrated thus attracting his attention. Once he finished getting ready, he picked up his phone and read a message from one of his classmates, Mirko, alerting him to a class assembly for that morning. Satisfied, he breathed a sigh of relief knowing that he would not be bored right away, grabbed his black backpack and left the room. Later he hastily re-entered, taking from the coat rack, hanging by the door, the star pendant. He walked down the hallway that led to other rooms in the house, while Loris watched the news of other I.M.P. sightings on his cell phone. Straight ahead he passed the doorway that led to the living room and kitchen. Let's stop for a moment!!! Let me describe what it was like!!! Dividing the two rooms was no wall, remember. Pretend you were the protagonist, if you stood in the doorway of the hallway, to your left was a modern kitchen made of white marble with dark gray tones, a central counter where a tray of candy, a fake plant, a bread box, a ticket holder, a TV remote control, a newspaper and a notebook with a pen rested. The stools on the counter were made of wood with a leather top, where the part where the sun did not shine could favor of its hard softness. On the other side of the counter were the stoves, pantries, a sink, all these in one plane, or cabinet. Above it were the shelves and pantries containing food or ingredients for preparing something. On the right side of the cabinet was a mighty gray refrigerator with metallic hues, then there was a window like the one in Loris's room but without curtains. In contrast, the living room, which was on the right side, was large, there was a central gray sofa with its back to the kitchen, a dark blue velvet carpet, a very large television attached to the wall adjacent to the kitchen, a wooden cabinet was placed under the television where there were movies, a video game console and some rudimentary decorations. To the left of the sofa, there was a large window with long transparent white curtains, and to the right was a tan closet and a basket for blankets. Somewhat in the corners of the room were tall chandeliers that illuminated with a warm light, but at that moment they were not in operation since the sun's rays were illuminating both the entire living room and the entire kitchen. Instead, between the living room and the kitchen, on the wall of the windows, there was a white colored front door with a red mat and shoe rack, which also served as a holder for objects or decorations. The kitchen walls were completely light gray but glittered, while the living room walls were still that color but a little darker. The floor was porcelain tile with a light wood effect, and between the two rooms, without being divided by a wall, was a dark red and orange round rug. Back to our story... Loris walked through the door that divided the hallway with the other part of the house and quickly made his way to a shelf in the kitchen to get something to eat if not before placing his backpack on the counter. A smartly dressed woman greeted our protagonist who was standing by the couch watching the news with her husband, who was sitting there.

Ellie: "Our dear boy is awake!!! How did you spend the night, Loris?" she asked with a stellar smile.

Ellie Benedetti was a young woman in her mid thirties, she was short with fair complexion, with brown eyes and long blond hair that she wore backwards, had a sweet disposition and was always helpful. She wore a black shirt and red tie with black pants and blue ballerina shoes.

Loris: "Hi! It was a fairly quiet night, except for the noise of helicopters constantly passing by every minute!" he said irritably while eating a chocolate vanilla bar.

Loris: "These are the best thing in the world!" he added in amazement feeling love for those bars as he swallowed a piece.

Alan: "Your mother has made quite a supply these days, however, don't eat too many of them, mind you!" she said happily.

In contrast, Alan Rossini was thin like Loris, with a very nice and expansive personality. He had blue eyes, age thirty seven, wearing black glasses, had curly black hair and a fair complexion. He also wore a shirt, but white in color and a black tie; he also wore black pants with a leather belt and wore brown lace up shoes.

Alan: "The Immediate Murder Professionals... Demons who come to Earth to kill certain people...I've always wondered why they haven't been caught and eliminated yet. That stupid league of heroes does nothing but promise us that we are safe, that they will be killed, that one, this one, and blah, blah, blah. In my opinion it is a strategy of the leader to accumulate as much money as possible with this story, they keep them alive so that they become billionaires!" he said thoughtfully, looking at the Eye Of Earth news report with disgust.

Ellie: "Your father has a point after all, that League hides a terrible secret in my opinion, but the only thing we can do is to rely on them for the battle against these hellish creatures. I think they have good in them though." she said hopefully.

Alan: "Ah ah!! They kill people for fun, remember that prisoner? They disfigured his face!!!" he replied surprised.

Ellie: "What if maybe he had in some sense harmed innocent people? Don't you think about that!?" she said huffing.

Loris: "As I see it, those demons are not that big a threat. They have inflated this matter to bring fear and panic among people so that those bastards can take credit and money from those corrupt world governors!!!" he exclaimed angrily at the heroes.

Alan and Ellie's eyes widened in puzzlement as they looked at each other, and shortly afterward one replied:

Alan: "Honest and badass, I love that guy!!!" he exclaimed cheerfully, thus supporting Loris's theory.

Ellie: "I agree with you, but what if one day they were to harm us? Who could save you?" she asked, raising an eyebrow and crossing her arms.

Loris: "We are good people, if they really have a heart maybe they would spare us. And then I'm noticing that things at Eye Of Earth are not going well at all, so there is a possibility that it could go out of business, and I would hope for that very much!!! They ate our money, every person's money!!! That money could have been used to do good for those who needed it most, but what does the government do? It gives it to these pathetic little soldiers to fix a completely useless blimp!" he said honestly.

Alan: "All right, young man! Your mother and I will be leaving for Oxford for further cultural study to integrate into our work, it's very useful nowadays to speak English! That means we will be gone for quite a while and you will have a free house. Promise me you won't get into trouble, okay Loris?" he said, turning off the TV and then approaching Loris to give him a friendly pat on the shoulder.

Ellie: "Ah! If you feel chased or in danger... run." she said as she approached and winked at him with a big smile.

Loris: "Don't worry about me, I'll be fine! Besides, what could possibly go wrong?" he said sarcastically, chuckling.

Alan: "Take care, Loris, and mind you, don't let those cheap little soldiers in, they don't deserve to cross that threshold!" he said, taking with him a brown leather briefcase and a blue rolling suitcase.

Ellie did the same, but with a dark red suitcase. Loris nodded with a smile and waved goodbye to his adoptive parents leaving for Oxford, exactly in the United Kingdom. Once they walked through the door and closed it, Loris exclaimed:

Loris: "Home free, baby!!!" he said joyfully by performing a pirouette.
