Acrostic: Beware of a Closed Door
©5-7-2023, Olan L. Smith
Beware of what is behind a closed door.
Every soul is curious what lies beyond,
Hence the surprise of startled eyes of every
Individual's dreams being crushed by reality,
Nominal hopefulness spattered about a
Darkened plain of insecurity of hope's door closed.
Open it and be damned or crushed by expectations,
Find what is lost in memories of the unknown,
A hand grasps the latch to pull the trigger of destiny.
Curious? Pull, push, ram, knock it down.
Laughter is a synonym for relief from insanity,
Only to slip down the chute of uncertainty's disdain,
Senseless relief from the madness with a sense of
Endless hopelessness in the ever-darkening despair.
Depend on relief, some outlet for insanity's
Deepening hooks, we dream of hooks drenched in our blood.
Oblivious relief comes from endorphins of gaiety,
Open pores, jaws wide agape, breathe choking,
Rapid, relief from the mundane, laugh till you die.
