Natsume Kyomei leaves her college dorm in total angst, knowing she has to go work a long 10 hour shift at her shitty retail job at "Steamy Subject". She has a sort of pissed off look on her face as she stomps outside to find the weather warm and quiet here in Tokyo. Sometimes she wonders why she even accepted the opportunity to study abroad in Japan for college, when she knows absolutely nothing about it. Of course, she researched it beforehand and spent 4 months on Duolingo to learn Japanese, but it was still a stupid decision. Nothing she majors in has anything to do with studying abroad in Japan, and it's not like she left to escape work, because she had to transfer to another store anyways in order to have money to feed herself. Thank God Steamy Subject is just an off-brand version of the store she worked at in America. All Natsume wanted to do was be a musician. She only took this opportunity because there were better chances of her getting recognized in a big city that her lame hometown. Of course, she could've gone literally anywhere else, but she wanted to see Japanese Cherry Blossom trees in real life and was a big anime fan, therefore, Japan it is.

She pops in her AirPods and begins to walk down the quiet streets of Japan. Well, almost quiet. She noticed kids playing soccer, but with their quirks, it was almost a mix of basketball, soccer and a contest of how high a kid could fly into the air. More than 80% of the population has a quirk, so seeing kids flying in the sky wasn't anything odd. She herself had a quirk. It was rare, but her quirk was fire. It was no ordinary fire quirk, though. Her flames were hypnotic and beautiful, capturing whoever sees them into a total blank state and having complete control over their mind and body. It seems Tokyo just happened to be the hot spot for positive and free quirk activity since the hero, Deku, who possesses One For All, took over as the symbol of peace after All Might. That's not to say that villains no longer exist, but it definitely has become more peaceful since Deku defeated the League of Villains and All For One years ago.

As time went on, she finally made it to her god awful job and angrily walked closer to the door before pausing and taking a deep breath. "Lord, if you're real, save me from this awful job". She walks inside and puts on a brave face for her coworkers. That's the only part of the job she liked. It wasn't a hard job, in fact, it paid well for her to do such easy tasks. It was the customers that ruined it usually. And who knows, maybe today would be different. Natsume will soon come to find that the Lord had actually heard her. Or maybe it was just a coincidence. Or some powerful villain decided Steamy Subject was the place to be that day. I can't say for sure, I'm just telling the story how it is.

3 hours into her shift and Natsume stands at the back counter in the empty store with her coworker, Dan. Dan checks their phone awkwardly and examines the empty store. Natsume looks at them with a boring gleam in her eyes. She takes a deep breath and sits up. "Wow, we're bumping so much right now, I can hardly see the door right now!" The sarcasm was packed with extra sauce and even a juice box on the side. "I'm quaking in my custom baby seal leather boots right now with the earthquake that is our customers, dude", Dan chimes in. "When is something interesting going to happen?"

Maybe she should've knocked on wood or something. At that moment, a powerful blast hits the front doors of steamy subject sending Natsume and Dan flying through the air. Dan used their quirk of teleportation to help Natsume land in a spot that won't hurt her. Natsume falls through the portal and lands next to the wall safely, while Dan does indeed still crash through the wall. "Dan!" She whips around and sees Dan stuck in the wall with only their hands and feet hanging out. "Are you okay?!" All Natsume can see is Dan stick their hand out to give a sarcastic thumbs up. In a muffle, Dan blurts "That shit hurt, but this will make a funny story later" Natsume giggles at the joke and turns her attention back to the blast that struck them. She sees a silhouette of a villain coming in slowly. She tries to make out who the villain is, hoping it's one she researched, but so far she isn't able to make out who it is.

The villain comes out from the smoke. To her surprise, and it being her lucky day, apparently, the villain was new and he seemed powerful. She quickly ignites her purple and pink flames ready to send this villain into a hypnotic state. She sits up and glares at the villain. As the villain notices her, he turns his full attention to her and her flames. Intrigued by its color and otherwise hypnotic pattern, he brings himself closer to her. Before the villain gets close enough for Nastume to make a move, a mysterious hero lands in front of her and uses a different kind of flame quirk in battle. He creates a fire wall between the villain and them, as the hero turns to Natsume calmly. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" His voice was very monotoned and deep. He also seemed to have a strange burn mark around one eye and...wait, is anything about this guy symmetrical? He seems to have polar opposite sides of himself on his body as if someone tried to combine two different people into one. She looks at him in confusion as her flames are still ignited. "N-no? I'm fine" The villain uses a metal quirk to cover himself and he gets past the flames. Both the hero and Natusme quickly take a fighting stance, ready to take the villain head on.

"You need to get to safety and quickly", the hero demands. This caught Natusme off guard as she was fully ready to take this villain on by herself. "W-what? No! I can handle this myself!" "You need to let the pros handle this! You can't cause damage to a villain with your quirk if you aren't a hero!" He looks back at her with his piercing blue eye on his left side. It was kind of intimidating, but Natusme wasn't phased. Once her mind is made up, she can't be convinced to do otherwise. "I don't need a hero, I can do this myself!" The villain roars as he appears to look kind of like a walking alligator with a metal body. He creates a weapon from his hand and charges to the hero and Natusme. The hero grabs Natusme and flies her out of danger before the villain can attack. The hero flies past Dan, who uses their teleportation quirk to get out of the hole. They see Natusme being flown away by a hero who, from a distance, looked handsome. Dan's face drops as they look over and see they were left in the now damaged store with the villain. They look back in the direction of where the hero flew Faith away. No other words fit the situation better than the words they muttered.

"Bruh".

"Hey put me down! I could've saved myself you know!" She was struggling to escape his grasp. "Would you stop fighting? You're making this harder than it needs to be" his voice remained monotoned but with a hint of irritation behind them. "If you're so strong, why haven't you used your quirk to get away from me?" She rolled her eyes. "It takes time to warm up genius!" The hero rolls his eyes and lands on top of a roof on a nearby building. He sets Natusme down gently, but she quickly stays attached to him in fear. "Are you sick or something?" She began to shake in fear. "No, I'm terrified of heights!" The hero stands there watching her silently freak out as she is frantically hanging onto his arm. "Here," he says, practically uninterested. He created a slide to the ground out of ice as Natusme watches in confusion. "Wait, I thought your quirk was fire?" The hero grabs Natusme and pulls her closer to him as he slides quickly hopes on his ice slide. "Wait!" He jumps on, holding her close as they slide down. She screams and panics in fear that they'll fall to their inevitable death.

As they reach the bottom, she loses her balance and almost falls out of his arms. He quickly catches her before she falls too far. "Are you alright?" he asked in that same deep monotoned voice. She flips her hair out of her hair and examines her surroundings. Noticing she's on the ground, she returns to her normal state and clears her throat in embarrassment. "I'm good, man." She swings her arms nervously and claps them together, not knowing what else to do. "Uh...thanks. But once again, I didn't need your help." "You sure wanted my help on the roof" he says, emotionless. "Yeah you put me on the roof of a skyscraper and wanted me to be cool with sliding down on your goofy ice slide. You have me mistaken with some other alternative American, cause that was not cool, Icy Hot" He stared at her with a blank expression. "The way you talk is annoying". The hero began to just walk away, leaving her offended by his comment. "You sure are quite the hero!" she sarcastically says with her arms out wide. She turns to face him as he stops in his tracks. He faces her yet again with a blank stare. "You're my hero, Icy Hot". They have a short glaring contest, before he turns around again to continue his mission. "The name is Shoto, pink flamingo." He flies away, leaving her to stew in her anger. Pink Flamingo? Was that a diss on her quirk? She scoffs and walks back to Steamy Subject. Normally she would panic, not knowing where it is, but it's the only building in the city that's on fire, so it was an easy guess.

"Shoto" she mutters, angrily. "What a bitch" She hoped she would never see him again. To hell with Icy Hot and everyone associated with him.
