Regret is a painful thing that does go on for years. People always regret their loved ones who died when they couldn't help them. What if I regret taking my own life?
"What...is this?" zion said as he closed one eye to protect himself from the loud sudden voice. We were so happy that we would reach the Safe Zone. We will be safe there. These thoughts were so satisfactory until this loud music broke in. It made the zombies lurk inside the window. They were so large in number that the windows started to get broken and zombies came inside from there. That was a lot of shock to see. We stood there like we could not process a single thing happening at this time to us
"Run!" Realizing the situation, Harry spoke up. It was enough to make us think straight now, which was a hard thing to do. We all ran as fast as we could. Zion was ahead of everyone in a second. He ran fast. Ethan was close to him. I was with Eugene. We were running at the same pace. While running, there was only one thought that came to mind. How did the music get, on the speaker when there was no electricity? That is weird. More like a miracle to happen.
I ran along with others as fast as I could to reach upstairs. Unfortunately, Hailey stumbled and fell due to the stick which made me fall too. I turned back to see her as I stopped running. "Hailey!" I shouted as loud as I could. Not another friend. I thought as I had already lost many close people during the pandemic. Zombies were just 2cm away from her. Hailey tried to get up but she couldn't because her ankle was hurt. I turned to take my steps toward her but Eugene grabbed my arm stopping me. I frowned at him at what he did I could have reached her. "It is too late, you will get caught too," Eugene said as he held my hand and we ran together. This was not the right thing to do, Eugene. I wish I could say that to you but it is not the situation to Scowl at someone. We need to be together as long as we can. "Hurry, up!" Zion said to me and Eugene to reach the stairs. Zion, Ethan, and Harry had already reached the stairs. Eugene and I ran as fast as we could and tried to make our pace quick.
This situation was so delicate. All the zombies coming out all of a sudden. How are we going to survive? I reached the stairs with Eugene. Ethan started to put benches on the stairs in a way to block the way for zombies. These benches were always in the hallway. I always wondered why they are placed here, but now I think about it... it was for safety. We don't know what could happen to us in this situation.
"How did they come outcomes of a sudden?" Harry questioned as he helped Ethan out. "I don't even know. The music...it is enough of a miracle for it to play on the speakers." Ethan replied getting some barricades. "For now, focus on putting the barricades to block the way," Ethan commented once again while placing the barricades. Zion and Eugene brought more barricades. I slightly put an effort to drag it with them to chairs. We started to put the bar up decades as Ethan and Harry went to bring more of them. I took a glance at Hailey. She had a very scared look on her face but now she was turning one of them. It was a horrible sight to see your fellow turning and becoming a zombie. A thing, that is the most horrible for you and the thing that doesn't even remember you. My eyes were wide. I was panting so hard but my grip on the barricades to put them on the stairs for blocking those mindless creatures' way was strong.
"Sofia" Harry called me out. Harry was giving me a chair to put on the staircase to block the way for the zombies to come up. I took a few steps to reach up till Harry was passing me the chair and then went to the staircase to put the chair. I could hear the zombies growl. It was so terrifying. It looks like all our efforts for survival were nothing more than a broken dream. My heart clenched, as I thought of what will happen next. Moreover, at the thought whom will I lose next? I don't want these guys to be away from me. Ju is lost without a trace same goes for Sue. I hope Sue is well out there. She ran, I think she did that for the best. I feel bad as the one who brought up the poster and I was the one who showed this to the group. Lawrence said to be sure about this. But how it ended up happening only when we were leaving. As I mentioned before, there was no electricity. The music got louder and louder.
