    The bet had ended.

James had won. Which was no surprise.

Severus had been shown up and was no match for the determination of one James Potter. There was no challenge too big nor too small that the young boy would not at least attempt.

James had almost cried after winning. Dramatically falling to his knees with a triumphant roar as he had not only beaten Severus, but Professor McGonagall too.

"As the winner of this bet, I am proud to announce that Snivellus is a disgusting piece of mould and will never receive a compliment from James Potter!"

Sirius, Remus, and Peter broke into applause, wiping tears from their eyes, looking up at James who was wearing his normal school robes once again, and standing on top of a table at the back of the common room. Just like fans would at a concert.

The quidditch team would be very relieved to hear that James would be returning wearing the correct attire for their next game against Slytherin, who would be in green.

If Gryffindor were to win the quidditch cup, they would have to be prepared, and wearing matching robes.

As Daisy and Heather returned to their dorm room for the night, they found Bao struggling to hang a red piece of paper on the outside of their door.

Tilting her head at the paper, Daisy couldn't understand what it said nor meant.

"What's that?" She asked standing next to Bao who relaxed coming off of the tips of her toes. Heather had squinted her eyes in attempt to read the foreign language.

"It's a couplet. For New Years, I hope you don't mind me decorating?"

"No of course not! I do have a question though." Bao waited for Daisy to ask.

    "Hasn't new year already passed?"

Because Daisy distinctly remembered a fireworks show and quidditch match at the Potters mansion to celebrate January first.

"Yes, one of them has at least. I also celebrate the lunar new year. It's a Chinese originated new year that I celebrate with my family."

"So what does that say there?" Heather asked pointing to the long paper stuck on their door.

"Lù yáo zhī mǎlì; rì jiǔ jiàn rénxīn. It means: Distance tests a horse's strength; time reveals a person's heart. Which I think was very fitting seeing as I'm pretty far away from home. Being here will only make me stronger!"

Daisy thought that sounded rather sweet, very true too.

"Oh! I get you now. Why don't we help you? What should we do?" Heather asked picking up something that Daisy guessed was a sticker or poster from a box at Bao's feet.

"Really?!" Bao smiled. "Those can go on the window or something. It's the year of the ox, so there are a few things to do with them in there!"

Daisy nodded and she too picked up an ox sticker and decided it would look great on the window just like Bao suggested.

While the girls began decorating the inside of their dorm with red coloured materials, Heather asked the question that Daisy too was absently wondering. "So how come your New Years different from ours?"
