The morning sun woke you up from your deep slumber, grabbing your phone to check the time, it was currently 11:30 am Saturday. You wondered if you should sleep more but then decided against it because you needed your body to get accustomed to this time zone, plus school would be starting on Monday for you, so you better fix yourself. Sitting upright on your bed, you put your phone on charging because you hadn't done it last night.
Looking at your room, you couldn't help but feel grateful for all the things, it was little moments like these that you were appreciative to God. Getting up, you made your way to the bathroom. Looking at your l/s hair and swollen y/c eyes, you cringed slightly. Brushing your teeth, and then washing your face afterward, you brushed out all the tangles from your hair. You went into the kitchen to make breakfast then realized that you didn't have any food yet. Off to the streets of Tokyo then. Opening your suitcase, you took a pair of black jeans and a red flannel shirt and your black walking shoes. You took your phone off charging and wore your purse. Wearing your shoes and making sure that you had your wallet, I.D, and your new keys as you left.
Leaving your neighborhood, you went into the marketplace first, you hadn't had any breakfast yet, so you decided it would be best to have food first before you went job hunting. Walking around the bustling plaza. There are so many places! It was a little overwhelming for you because you wanted to do all sorts of things and eat all sorts of food. You spotted a small ramen stand. Just smelling the dish made your stomach growl. Ramen is it then. Going in, you sat on one of the seats in front of the counter, it was a small stand but you had heard somewhere that street food is always the best in flavor and when you're trying to learn about a new country or city. A young woman came to you for your order. The moment she saw that you were a foreigner, she got so excited.
She handed you the menu, seeing how excited she was, you decided to ask her instead of what would she recommend that you try. Asking for her opinion on what you should get, her eyes literally started sparkling, she began to ask you what kind of flavors you prefer, and based on those, upon her expert opinion you decided to order miso beef ramen. Before she left to place your order, both of you introduced yourself to each other. Her name was Yuki, as she left, you observed her a little because you wanted to be able to remember when you came here again. Yuki had straight black long hair that reached her lower back, it was in a low ponytail, she wore a chief's attire and an apron over it, her skin was clear and she had beautiful brown eyes. She looked like a cheerful person.
You began to think about what you'd do once you leave here, the best option would be to immediately start looking for a job with a full stomach because these things tend to take time and they're extremely tedious. Before you could drown further into your thoughts, Yuki came back with your order, seeing food you immediately chowed down. Yuki chuckled lightly at you and she began talking to you. You were the only customer at her stall so it wasn't an issue for her to give you her full attention.
You also took this chance to ask her about possible job openings. Though they didn't need anyone on their stall, there were a few places she mentioned like the mail service, a beauty salon, a construction site. These things didn't sound exactly optimal to you because first, you were a student, and mail service and construction is a very time and effort consuming job, you would know better because you worked both jobs when you were back in your home. You then asked Yuki if she knew about any cafes that you could work at while also being in high school. She thought about it for a moment or two.
"A friend of mine, she has her own cafe and she pays really well too, maybe you could visit her?" she suggested. This caught your attention, you thought that this could be a good idea and if you also ask Yuki to be a sort of reference for you. You had to be tactful in asking her to be your reference because you didn't want her thinking that you were only using her.
"That sounds like a great idea, could you give me her address. I can go there right now after this". You said giving her your best smile.
"Of course! Wait here while I go get a pen and paper!" with that she left.
You focused on finishing your meal, began to secretly pray to God that you land this job. Working in a cafe is much easier than working at any of the places Yuki mentioned. Yuki came back with a pen and paper and wrote down the address for you and the manager's number and name. She handed the paper to you. Once in your hand, you turned to Yuki. Speak the truth. And asked her if she could be your reference because you are a foreigner and there's no way you would know about her friend's cafe if someone didn't mention it to you.
Immediately Yuki agreed and you were dumbfounded in her willingness to help you. She took her phone out and began texting someone, you wondered who she was texting until Yuki showed you her phone. She was texting your supposed new manager about sending you to her place and how you would suit her working environment. And then she hit sent while you were reading it. Honestly, you just began thanking her profusely, for her kindness to a stranger that she just met.
"Y/n, there is something about you that pulls at my heartstrings, as weird as that sounds. So Please don't thank me so much" she laughed lightly at this. Shocked at her words, you couldn't help but hug her, she was a little taken aback but she returned your hug. As you prepared to leave after paying for your meal, you looked at her.
"Yuki, I will not forget this kindness that you showed me today, I promise to repay this in the future" with this you left in pursuit of your new job. Yuki just smiled at your fading form, going back to work.
You followed the directions to the cafe that Yuki had written down for you. It didn't take you long to find it but you became a little skeptical about going in because it was a cosplay cafe and that too a maid cafe. Your left eye twitching a little this can't be, right? Am I at the right place? As you were scratching the back of your head with your left hand while looking at the name and address. Sadly, this was the place. Letting out a deep sigh, you went inside and were immediately greeted by a traditional maid?
"Welcome back mistress" bowing her head as she smiled at you. You just stood there confused and very, very awkward. When the pretty dark green hair woman didn't get any response from you.
"Is something wrong mistress?" She tilted her head slightly to right, bringing you back to earth from wherever your mind decided to run off to. Composing yourself rather quickly.
"Uh hi, My name's Y/n by the way, I'm here for a job opening, is it a good time to meet manager Satsuki? " you asked nervously. Upon hearing this, the maid suddenly remembered that a foreigner would be coming to their cafe for a job interview. She smiled at you, the maid told you her name was Subaru and asked you to follow her as she led you to the manager's office. You noticed that even though this was a maid cafe, it had a very nice and pure ambiance to it. Maybe working here wouldn't be a bad idea after all you thought to yourself.
Once outside the manager's office, Subaru gently knocked on the door, hearing a cheerful come in she went in while you waited outside to be called in. The manager quickly opens the door coming face to face with you, Satsuki is a beautiful middle-aged woman with chin-length dark purple hair with spiky bangs that covered her forehead and blue eyes. Her eye sparkled when she saw you.
"My goodness! Yuki was right about you suiting my cafe! Please do come in" you went inside her medium-sized office, Subaru decided to leave the two of you alone. The two of you talked for almost a full good hour. She was very curious about you and how you came to Japan and if you had any work experience, you showed her your resume of places that you worked at and she was very impressed by you.
The conclusion of this meeting was that she decided to hire you. She wanted you to come on Sunday to practice being a proper maid and how to deal with customers as a maid. Honestly, you were a little scared but now you were beaming with excitement. With the interview and everything, you went to a grocery store to buy food. And then went home. Extremely ecstatic for tomorrow.
