Chapter 5

Once you got home with your groceries, you were beyond ecstatic, like how cool is this?! I got a job, I got a job on the very first day! I have to call Ben!. With this thought in mind, you proceeded to take your shoes off, placing your purse on the coffee table, and headed towards your kitchen finally stocking food in the empty fridge. For some reason seeing a fridge full of food that you bought by yourself made you feel proud. Just little accomplishments made you feel so good about yourself. Going back in your room/lounge, you took out your phone and called Ben, you had to give him the good news about the furniture and job. While the phone was ringing you couldn't help but think.

Aren't things going a little too smoothly?.. No Y/n, don't ruin this moment, be thankful for what God is doing for you. On the third ring, Ben picked up.

"Hey kiddo, I was thinking of calling you when you landed but I thought that you might have gone to sleep because of jetlag. So how's everything going so far?" Just hearing his voice brought you a sense of peace that only he could bring.

"Everything's going really well, Ben! you'll never guess how lucky I got or rather how God blessed me!" you were jumping at this point like a little kid.

"Oh now I'm curious"

"Well, the previous tenant that lived in this apartment recently got married to some rich guy, and guess what! She didn't even take all her furniture and just left it here! How cool is that?!"

"Wait so she didn't take anything? Y/n, I'm hoping that the landlord called her and let her know that you're coming here right?" Ben got a little concerned with this.

"Yes yes, the landlady called her and told her but she wasn't interested in anything. Like she didn't even take a single thing, not that I'm complaining, so now I have a furniture-filled apartment and I got to save money". You made sure to assure Ben that you weren't being immature with somebody else's stuff.

"Well that is good then, as long as she knows that you'll be using this apartment so that's all good then, thank God for that", Ben was genuinely happy for you and you could sense it.

"That's not the only good news"

"Oh! there's more? well, what are you waiting for?"

"I also got a job! and it's at a cafe, so I'll be learning a lot of new things like cooking some Japanese foods along the way, well, I hope so too. Also, you're going to laugh at this bit of information but it's a cosplay cafe as in I'll be dressing up as a maid", you were waiting for Ben to crack up at this and so he did.

"Pfft... Hahaha, Oh goodness child, a maid cafe! I did not expect to hear cosplay and maid from you in one go but congratulations my love that you got the job! but tell me, is the pay good? you know you can ask me for anything right?" You loved this about him, Ben always put you first.

"Oh Ben, yes the pay is very good in fact, I think I'll be able to live comfortably even, and you know me that if I ever need anything I'd always ask you", you assured Ben for this.

"I'm happy my dear, but I have to go now because it's bedtime for me, and you need to sleep, school starts on Monday and you only have tomorrow to get things in order. Love you and bless you, my dear". you heard shuffling on his side, he must be in bed already.

"Yes Ben and love you more and bless you" Ending the call you really felt happy now that you were able to hear Ben's voice and tell him about your little miracles as you would like to call them.

After talking to Ben, you flopped yourself onto your bed. It was very quiet in your apartment but not the eerie kind of quiet but the peaceful one, where you were thankful for what you got in just a very short amount of time. It was nice just staring at your ceiling but you needed to make food for yourself, getting up and changing out of your outside clothes and into your comfy clothes, you felt much more relaxed and went into your kitchen to make something for yourself.

Finally fixing something up real quick, you opened the veranda door, to air your room of the smell of oil and spices and sat in front of the t.v. and just flipped through channels until finally stopping on a detective series. You glanced at the clock, it was only 9:30 pm, you had plenty of time to unpack and settled down for the night. And so, after finishing your meal and the episode, you got up and washed your dishes in the sink and proceeded to unpack your clothes and put away some toiletries. The t.v. was playing in the background while you worked. When you had gotten done with setting everything in their rightful places you checked the clock, 10:45 pm. hmm not bad didn't take long at all. You closed your veranda door, noticing that the place looked a little barren, I might get some plants to fill in the place just to give it some life, you thought to yourself. Looking at the time and everything you had the sudden urge to take a late-night walk, Ben would never approve of you going out at this time but Japan is considered to be safer than most places so it wouldn't hurt to just walk around a bit and on your way back you did see a small well-lit park so maybe walk around there for a while seemed like a pretty okay idea. You didn't bother to change your clothes, just only grabbed your I.D., phone, and keys as you changed into your walking shoes and went out before locking your door behind you and making sure to check before leaving your apartment.

The night seemed to calm and tranquil, you were satisfied to see that people were still out and about, mostly it was just some teenagers your age and some elderly couples discussing the weather and whatnot. It was nice out, you wondered if you should be doing this more often, it didn't take long for you to arrive at the park. People were still walking around but the park consisted mostly of young couples, well I guess love is in the air all the time, you walked around a bit feeling tired and sitting on a bench overlooking a koi pond. Seeing the koi fish just swimming around, in their own world was calming to you, maybe next time I'll bring some bread with me to feed the fish, maybe they'd remember me, you smiled to yourself at your random thoughts until you noticed in the corner of your eyes blonde boy sitting underneath a tree.

Hmm, something about him caught your attention you couldn't tell what it was at first glance but when you turned to get a better view of him to your right, you noticed how serious he looked but something else caught your sight. Under the moonlight shown through the clouds, you saw his face and by God, he was the most handsome boy you'd ever laid upon but it was not his handsome face that caught your attention but rather the tears that were falling endlessly, his expression completely stoic. You couldn't see the color of his eyes but his face devoid of any emotion and the fact that as tears were falling, he wasn't wiping his face nor was he sniffling or even trying to cover his face, no motion to even hide his pain from the world as if he didn't care if the world saw him this way. And it tore your heart because you knew very well what he was going through, grief, I know how it feels. Without you even realizing, you approached him and crouched down at his left side, however, he made no motion to even acknowledge your presence next to him. So close to him, you saw his eyes and they were the most beautiful emerald green you'd ever seen, he looked to be about the same age as you. He's so vulnerable, you reached out your right hand and wiped his tears, this prompted him to look right into your eyes. However, while he looked into your eyes, you knew that he was not seeing you. Those beautiful emerald eyes were in a daze, he was drowning. And so you broke the silence.

"I don't know what happened to you to cause such pain but I can assure you as good times pass so will bad times" you continued to wipe away his never-ending tears but all he did was lean into your touch for just a briefest of moments, just long enough for you to notice his weight shift into your palm as he closed his eyes tears still falling.

Until he finally got up and turned away from you and walked away leaving you behind. And you let him go, simply stared at him as he walked away from you, God be with you (hypocrite, hypocrite), saying a silent prayer for him, you decided that it was time to head home and sleep, you had training tomorrow with miss Satsuki and you didn't want to be late. You got up and stared in the direction the blonde walked away and wondered if you'd ever see him again, as you begin your way home.
