sky-blue hair turned crimson red

The sun shone brightly over the park. The grass had been recently cut, the dirt raked away to give access to fresh grass for the people to walk along. It was early springtime, and there were flowers everywhere. The smell of freshly mowed lawns, freshly mown grass, fresh mown grass filled the air. There were birds chirping their morning songs; there was the sound of an occasional bike zooming along, and the happy noises of children as they raced each other across the park.

SkyBlue sat on a park bench, in her raised form, admiring the beauty of it all. It had been a while since she had gone out; the past few days had very unforgiving weather. But now that the azure skies aren't covered with gray clouds, she could truly admire it all. She sighed happily and relaxed her posture, savoring the feeling of the sun on her skin, and basking in the warm breeze. She closed her eyes, letting the gentle wind run through her hair. Though, the constant yelling of children and noise overlapping the chirping birds and nature sounds was quite annoying. SkyBlue got up, silently grimacing at those who had disturbed her. She had moved herself to a different area of the park.

SkyBlue sat on a different bench, in a more secluded area. Nobody was around, besides her. She closed her eyes, allowing the calming sounds of nature to calm her nerves. She let herself relax even more and took deep breaths.

And it was then that she heard rustling.

She opened her eyes, to look around. Her attention fell onto a bush near her. A very large one; with small green leaves covering the entirety of its area. It was probably just an animal, she thought to herself. No need to worry. Just ignore it...she told herself.

As she turned her head back towards the beautiful view before her, however, she froze when she saw something in the corner of her eye. Something was poking out of the bush; something black. SkyBlue turned her attention to it, but it slithered right back into the bush. An animal, maybe? Or something else entirely?

SkyBlue, once again, leaned back. More cautious this time, her attention still focused on the bush. She kept her eye on it. She didn't move her glare.

Suddenly, something jumped out of the bush, making SkyBlue flinch. It was just a squirrel...of course. It was just her imagination, thinking it was some sort of monster. Maybe she should stop watching horror movies late at night with Sarusky and NuSky.

She turned back, much less stressed, to continue enjoying the natural beauty. And that's when she saw it. The demon.

Before she could react, however, it lunged forward.

When SkyBlue woke up, she could immediately sense the shift in tones between where she had been before and where she was now. Everything seemed duller somehow, colder. Everything seemed like it lacked life.

Her heart skipped a beat, her stomach turning unpleasantly. She was afraid.

Despite all this, she got up. It was as dark as the night, no light whatsoever. SkyBlue felt around, trying to get a grip of something, anything. Her hand brushed against the cold wall. SkyBlue yelped at the sudden feeling, but continued through.

She kept her hand against the wall, continuing her journey. She felt the bricks that were cold as ice and as rough as granite. SkyBlue took her time, searching each crevice of the wall for a light switch or anything. She ran her hand through a few cobwebs, but she couldn't find anything. Only the rough texture of the wall. Rough, rough, rough...

Smooth. Her hand had hit something soft. SkyBlue felt around. It was warm. SkyBlue kept her hand on it, inspecting it and feeling around it, but couldn't understand what it was. It smelt rancid; a slight fruity undertone to it. She slowly ran her hand across, pushing slightly, until her hand caved into it. She pulled it out, and her hand felt slimy and wet. She gagged, shaking her hand off before continuing to run against the wall. The more she traversed through the room, the more powerful the smell became. It was disgusting.
