Draco watched Harry sit back down and took his hand.
"I'm sorry to give you false hope, Harry." He truly was trying to get away from his Father. This day had turned into a disaster and he was debating if he should just murder Father. He wouldn't have to wait to become Lord Malfoy and then he wouldn't be worried about his Father calling off his courtship. The Head of the family was able to approve or dissolve courtships as they saw fit. He didn't know when he had become so attached to Harry but he decided he wouldn't be letting him go. Malfoy's were rather possessive.
"It's okay, Draco! I bet they're worried and that's good enough for me." Harry bared his teeth in a smile as Aberforth came around to bring more drinks.
"Harry, you should leave the poor merpeople alone." Professor Lupin said firmly.
"He does, sir. I already asked him." Draco couldn't help his bragging tone as he reassured the werewolf.
"They deserve it, Remy! You should have heard what they were saying about Draco." Harry dragged his nails down the table in agitation, leaving gouges in the wood.
"Pup, Aberforth is going to kick us out if we keep breaking his stuff." Lord Black quickly charmed the table and ignored the old man's evil eye from behind the bar.
"Don't be ridiculous, Black. He wouldn't dare." His Father glowered at Dumbledore's brother and Draco wanted to disappear. As if anyone wouldn't hesitate to throw the three former Death Eaters out.
"The only reason we're even allowed in here is because of Harry." He snapped and Severus frowned at him.
"Don't speak to your Father like that, Draco." Harry narrowed his eyes before hissing out "leave Draco alone, Snape!" Before they could start brawling, the door was flung open.
"Merlin! That wind is terrible!" Arthur Weasley shook his head before spotting them.
"Harry! How are you, son?" Draco watched Harry light up as he hugged the older man.
"Hi, Mr. Weasley!" Weasley patted his back before holding onto his shoulders.
"I just wanted to let you know you're a part of our family, even if you're not dating Ginny." Harry trilled happily before turning to him.
"This is Draco!" Harry had his hands out, like he was showing him off. He quickly stood up before shaking the redhead's hand.
"Hello, sir. It's nice to officially meet you. Please thank your wife for my sweater." Weasley Sr beamed at him.
"She was so excited to make it. I'll be sure to pass your message along. I wanted to welcome you to the family as well. If you need anything, let me know." Draco got a sudden idea and hid his glee.
"Well I wouldn't want to bother you." He made sure to hunch his shoulders. His Father made a choking sound behind him that he easily ignored.
"What's wrong?" Weasley looked concerned as Harry anxiously hovered over him.
"I hate to say anything but I don't want to keep it a secret. Every time I cross paths with Ginny, she makes sure to tell me Harry only likes me because of his inheritance." He mentally patted himself on the back as Mr. Weasley frowned.
"I will speak to her, Draco. I know she's been having a hard time adjusting but she shouldn't punish you for the situation. It's no one's fault." He said firmly. Draco was pleased she would get a lecture. He didn't want to admit it but her comment had gotten under his skin. He knew their relationship had shifted quickly, leaving everyone around them confused, but that was their business. They finished their small talk and waved goodbye as they watched Weasley Sr leave.
"Did she really say that?" Harry's voice brought him out of his thoughts and he froze at the expression on his face. He looked furious.
"She did. I made sure to straighten her out. I honestly just wanted her to get in trouble with her parents. 10 galleons that she gets a howler tomorrow." He grinned before sitting down. Harry scowled before joining him at the table.
"That was sneaky, Malfoy." Lord Black looked slightly impressed as he shared a look with Professor Lupin.
"She had no right to say that to you." Harry started digging his nails into the wood again, much to Aberforth's annoyance.
"She's just upset, pup!" Harry glared at him and Lord Black shrunk against his chair.
"I don't care. She can't talk to him like that." Professor Lupin rubbed his back as Lord Black sniffed.
"Don't be mad, Harry! How about we make a voodoo doll of her, hm? Would that cheer you up?" Harry ignored his godfather and continued to scowl at the table. Something nudged his foot and he glanced at his Father as he gestured towards Harry.
"Harry, it's honestly fine. I wasn't even that upset." Harry narrowed his eyes at him.
"Would you rather have her tongue or her eyes?" He saw Severus gag and snickered. Despite what most people thought, the potions master had a weak stomach.
"Neither. Where would I put such a thing?" He joked but Harry wouldn't budge.
"How about this? If she says anything else, you can do whatever you want." He bargained and Harry brightened up.
"Whatever I want?" He crooned before smiling wildly, showing off his canines.
"Of course!" He promised and Harry took his hand.
"If she bothers you again, she'll be gone and I'll blame it on the merpeople. Then I'll be able to feast on their tribe. It's like killing two birds with one stone." The adults looked surprised at his announcement but Draco nodded his head.
"A wonderful idea!" He had thought his little plan to get Ginny Weasley in trouble was a stroke of Slytherin genius but somehow he had signed the merpeople's death warrant. He said a quick apology before handing Harry the fruit he kept in his pocket. He had tried his best.
