Elvis has to perform his "Trouble" number for his movie King Creole. This movie is set in New Orleans, where there are several African American people. Elvis has learned most about what he knows about music from these people. He respects them and he looks up to them because of it. For his number, which actually is filmed in LA, he sings in a club while a band plays. Mr. Martin Shelly, a member of the band, has a wife and three children: two boys and a girl. The girl is eighteen years old and has a beautiful name: Adriana. Elvis gets the opportunity to meet the family, much to the shock of many people since this is a time when white people are still prejudice against black people. This doesn't stop Elvis from making new friends, though, and it doesn't stop his heart from going. The moment he meets Adriana, the love bug bites him hard. She is a very pretty young woman with glimmering brown eyes and hair like he has never seen before—an afro, as she calls is. Their relationship is forbidden because of the social norm, and because... what would the world say of Elvis Presley being involved with an African American girl in 1958, especially after all the flack he's been getting because of his music and dance moves? Plus, he has a white girlfriend. He could sink farther than he already is.
